:wave2:DH and I have ADR here for our upcoming trip. Was wondering about anyone's recent visits concerning food and service. TIA for any help.

I ate there for the first time in April of this year and really enjoyed it; it is on my short list for a possible return next year. I stayed (and will stay) at POFQ, so it was very convenient.

I had the French Onion soup (it's beef stock, for those debating beef vs veg stocks), and the "Louisiana Lugger" pork chop with sweet potato hash (I've seen a more recent menu that says it now comes with red beans & rice, which makes me want to order it again even more). I did not go in looking for a pork chop, but my server (nice lady who took good care of me) recommended it (as well as the prime rib or steak), and she did not steer me wrong. Best of all: WARM CORNBREAD!

I was a 'good girl" and did not indulge in dessert, but they have several things that sound good, and if I go back, I may have to try something.

Thank-you karl05 . Anyone else been there lately?

We ate there in June and really enjoyed it. You can see my full review in my signature, but we particularly enjoyed the collard greens, chicken and waffles, and cheese balls. It wasn't as good as something authentic in Louisiana but it was an enjoyable experience.

. . . appys:... French Onion
. . . entree:.. Blackened Fish Filet, Jambalaya
. . . dessert:. Pecan Pie, Banana Foster Angel Food Cake
.
NOTE: Boatwrights used to get good reviews, but over the past few years has
really gone down hill in the food quality department. In our opinion, it is below
avgerage. The Prime Rib and VooDoo Chicken were both voo-doo-hoo-doo. We did
enjoy the Blackened Fish. The steaks are average in quality, but tasty ONLY
because of the amount of added sodium. For dessert, the Banana Foster Angel Food
Cake was heavenly. Yes, it is convenient for the resort guests, but not very highly
recommended. If staying at POR, we recommend walking to the POFQ food court.

This is my least favorite restaurant on property and the only place I will not return to. Our server was very standoffish and curt, and made the whole experience uncomfortable. The food wasn't anything to write home about. Others have had amazing experiences, and ours was bad enough to make us not want to return. I certainly don't think it'd be bad to try it, though.

I really enjoyed Gumbo and Jambalaya there a few years ago and the portions were good. Couldn't finish the bananas foster cake as was too full of jambalaya. Cornbread is good too, being a Brit it was my first experience of it and I've now learnt to make our own :-)

I think this is an odd restaurant in Disney for some reason, being that no one really discusses it or visits here I feel.

I stayed at POR about 4-5x and not once did we dine here nor even consider it. Not sure why, just doesn't have that draw to it to me.

I'm probably wrong though and it could be a great place, I wouldn't know.

We ate there twice this past March because we stayed at POR. Food, service, and price were fine.

First night to dine there, if you didn't have an ADR, the wait was over an hour. I had made an ADR an hour earlier while in our room, so we waited the hour in our room instead of at the restaurant waiting area.

Second night was less crowded and shorter wait.

We really liked Boatwright's and both DH and I can vouch for the pork chop as well as the prime rib. The wait staff was lovely.

Have never eaten here, but it is high on my list of places to try. The menu is very appealing to me and fits very well with the resort theming, obviously. I have seen mixed reviews, but am glad to see some good ones here (albeit with a not-so-great one mixed in). Every restaurant at WDW is going to have good and bad nights....read these restaurant boards for a few days, and you'll see good and bad on pretty much every place on property. I'd say that if the menu looks good to your tastes, then give it a shot.

On a semi-related note, make sure you plan your ADR on a night that Yehaa Bob will be in the River Roost Lounge at POR. We HAVE gone over to see him, and my kids continue to ask when we're going back for his show again, so I think I'll be easily be able to get the family to approve a Boatwright's ADR to match up with that.

My family ate there last year and really enjoyed it! The service was great. We had half of our party stuck at Typhoon Lagoon because of transportation problems and were able to call in to postpone our reservation by an hour with no problems. I believe our table got two prime ribs, a catfish, and a jambalaya. No complaints, servings were large, food came quickly (but the place was pretty empty - a shame). Can't say anything about the prices, we were on the free dining plan and none of us really paid attention :)

We have eaten there a couple of times, and I think the food is pretty good. Now, with that said, there is nothing particularly special about it...no "WOW" factor or grand experience, but it provides a rather enjoyable plate of food and decent service.

I have been curious about it too, because we will be staying again at POR in June. We didn't eat there when we stayed last time. I think we will probably skip it again. The pimento cheese fritters look good though, but I think you can get them at the pool bar and River Roost. I frequently visit New Orleans and can get the real deal. Plus, we have several authentic Cajun places in town. It's like the Biergarten. It sounds good, but we have been to authentic biergartens in Germany several times before and will be going again in December. It's probably the same reason we never eat in Mexico at Epcot, many Tex-Mex and authentic Mexican restaurants in town already. I don't know if it's very fair to compare some of these places to authentic versions though.
