@Collette: I have never stayed at BLT, so I cannot answer those questions, however, there are TONS of great tips and information here on this board about using an
ECV in general.
Because you will have more space with the two bedroom unit, be sure to take along a power strip or heavy duty extension cord (three-prong capable) so that you can easily recharge the battery of the ECV every night. The ECV should last all day, but recharging every night while you sleep insures that the ECV can go all day the next day! Quite often, the outlets we need to use to recharge our
ECVs are "hidden" or obscured by furniture placement, so that is why I always carry a power strip with a nice long cord on it in my suitcase.
Otherwise, I would suggest reading some of the posts here at the DIS boards about using ECVs. The basic rules you follow when driving any vehicle apply, as does "The Golden Rule". Have your hubby practice at Lowes, Home Depot, Target, Walmart, or the grocery store with one of the big store carts; if he can master that, he can drive any ECV he will encounter!
Watch out, and try not to drive into a space where you will be forced to back out (some of the shops have tight spaces, so looking ahead is key); backing up on an ECV can be tricky; in the crowded confines of a WDW shop or eatery, it can be downright frustrating.
Finally, just be remember that many - if not most - of the people around your at WDW are quite self-absorbed. They may not pay attention, and reports are common here of people walking directly in front of, or even INTO moving ECVs. During busy times, I have a family member walk one in front and one in back to help prevent any accidents.
Have fun, and I hope that you find all the Magic you seek on your trip!
