Running the PHM alongside my chiropractor....at least I know I will be well aligned come race day!

That could come in handy!

Which music apps are good? I must admit I run while using my Shuffle which has music from, oh, 10 years ago (Green Day, One Republic) and was thinking I should research and change it up. Looking for songs that have the same beats per minute as "Jesus of Suburbia" which I use because it's long (9 minutes - and I disregard the words). So, what should I look for and what's the best way to search?

It's not an app, but you can try runhundred.com for suggestions. You can sort it by genre or BPM.

I need to switch up my music. I've had the same songs in my iPod shuffle for years. I just fear I'm going to change it and then miss the old stuff. Some days I like running to really upbeat stuff, and some days I'll run to the same Dave Matthews Band song over and over again.

Convenient!

My chiro-buddy is a CrossFit dude and doesn't really believe in running more than 5K. Come the zombie apocalypse he'll get out of hte gate faster than me but I'll outlast him and trip him if necessary. ;) He takes care of me head to toe (literally, as he does a bit of CST and he'll take care of toe joints if needed), but he thinks I'm weird for running more than he "believes in". Silly silly. :)

I had such a fun time doing the monorail crawl!! We had a glow-tini at the Wave, Lupa Lupa at Tambu Lounge and a nightcap at Minzers after dinner. Now with Trader Sam's, that has to be included on the monorail crawl. I'd also try and get a drink at Cali Grill, the view from up there is amazing!
I'll have to look into it. My running partner doesn't think she can drink around the world at Epcot so this may be more her speed.

I keep adding new music but for some reason when I put the ipod on shuffle it just plays the same old stuff. I mostly listen to upbeat because I can pace myself to it. I know someone who runs to classical because it relaxes him and another who runs to books on tape. I would put on a movie but I'm afraid I would start laughing and fall over.

I haven't used iTunes in years, but from what I remember, you can add the songs to your library on iTunes but in order for them to transfer to your device you have to sync it first. Try that out, it should work.

I have a running friend who likes to listen to historical podcasts when he's on his long runs. We did the Colonial 200 mile relay race at the beginning of May, and over the course of the three legs he completed, he learned all about Attila the Hun.

Fun question! For Princess I'm looking forward to the Monorail Crawl that I have planned after the race. Yes, I'm a vacation lush.

Has everyone planned what ADRs, if any, they're going to go for? I'm about 3 weeks out from my 180 days. :flower:

We haven't even started talking about ADRs. Last year our running group did a cupcake crawl with a stop at Tambu Lounge for Lapu Lapus and Mai Tais. Super fun!

I listen to comedy podcasts sometimes, and while I haven't quite fallen over, it does feel weird to run and belly laugh at the same time. Probably looks odd too!

I have done this as well! My BF an I especially enjoy listening to comedy on longer car rides...makes them more fun!

Just realized I forgot to include what ADRs I'm going for...I'll just list the race days and not my whole trip.

On 10K Saturday I want to go to the Raglan Road brunch at 11am, then head back to the hotel to rest up. I already have a reservation for dinner that night at Bull and Bear thru OpenTable.

Princess Half Sunday I want a filling lunch that's easy to get to from my room at Yacht Club, so I think I'm going to go for Captain's Grille. After that I want to hit Tambu Lounge and Trader Sam's for sure at the Poly. Maybe Outer Rim or the Wave Lounge at the Contemporary. Then finish the crawl at Mizner's and have dinner at Narcoosee's around 6ish. If I have enough energy I'll head to MK to see Wishes at 9.

Day 2 of week 4 on Jeff Galloways running program! Struggled today.....my run 2 days ago felt great. I didn't feel like I was dying. Today not so much, struggled to just go the 1/2 hour. I am not an experienced runner, can anybody tell me if this normal?

Totally normal! There are good runs and bad runs all throughout training (and life!) As much as it sucks, bad runs definitely make you appreciate the good ones!! Sometimes I'm able to figure out what made it not as good of a run (what I ate, weather, sleep, hydration, if I had a few drinks the night before :rolleyes1) But not always. Hang in there!

Back to running tonight after a brief hiatus!

My doctor advised me not to run while taking the antibiotic Cipro as it has been linked to tendon rupture! I've been there, done that with my Achilles in 2005 and do not care to go thru that again!

It felt great to be back on the trail!

DH had heel surgery a couple of months ago and knows exactly the need to baby the Achilles tendon ! Since he will take a few months to be 100% he is out for the PHM...but still good for moral support !:goodvibes

Very normal ! I have always had days I just want to be a couch potato and days I feel like I could enter the Olympics . On those days I just want to eat donuts all day I put on the workout clothes and usually after the first mile it gets better. If something hurts don't push too hard but I find with me it's a mental block so I push through and keep the goal of that pretty princess medal in focus !

When I first found the PHM thread in 2012 I remember someone posting you know you've almost reached the end of the race when you see the gospel choir. It either means the finish line is around the corner or you've died and gone to Heaven! It still makes me laugh!!

Completely normal. When I've had a long break between runs the first day back usually isn't that bad. A day or two after the run your muscles are feeling the impact of that activity. The more you keep at it, the better you'll feel. (Listen to that, self! Go running! lol)

SO normal.

Repeat days and weeks as needed. You're way ahead of the game, so take your time. Don't rush it. I was getting back into activity after a LONG time off, and just listing out all the body parts and systems that I was getting up to speed (so to speak) was nearly as exhausting as the actual activity! Take your time, do it to YOUR speed. Repeat as needed.

:) Works for the January half, too.

Started week 4 of Jeff galloway today. Did 1.83 miles with run/walk. Felt better than usual and hoping that my body starts to like this whole running thing. For those of you that used his app, when did you change it form 1 min / 1 min run to longer running periods?

I changed from 1/1 to 2/1 about week 2 and 2/1 to 3/1 about two weeks later. And I tested out the new ratio on a shorter run. I did about half of old pace and half of new pace for the first try. Then just went with the faster pace from then on. But don't feel like you have to up your intervals. From what I can tell from posts and trip reports, many people do 1/1 the whole way. :)

Disney race veterans- I know it's a long shot, but is there absolutely any way that we can get our race kits without having to go to Downtown Disney for the Expo? That would really be cutting it close on arrival day, as the little guy has his kids dash Friday morning and we are getting there late Thursday. Plus, we just don't want to go to DD ;). Would they send them to the room? I mean, we have to show ID for the room anyway...

Also- anyone know what time the kids races are held?

Thanks in advance :)!

It's ESPN Wide World of Sports, not Downtown Disney...

And you HAVE to pick up your race packets in person, yes.
