Costco Pkg, dining voucher for adults

I'm doing some pricing on packages vs separate purchase.

On the Character Dining voucher; It appears from the 'small print' that it can only be used for character dining and we are not interested in that. I thought I remembered someone, somewhere saying that it could be used at other venues but only for one meal, no change given.

Does anyone know if we can use the voucher at, say, Blue Bayou? Or even at Storyteller's, but for lunch or dinner?

It is also my understanding that we can use the vouchers at most places. I've also seen a list of the exceptions to that rule, but I'd need to remember where I saw it. I believe the vouchers cannot be used for WOC packages, at downtown Disney or for alcoholic beverages. Plus, like you said, no change will be given.

I purchased a Costco package, and plan to use the character dining vouchers elsewhere, as we have no plans for a character meal. I think we may use them at Blue bayou.

When we did this a couple of years ago, we used the vouchers as "cash" (no change is provided, though). unless something has changed since then, you can use them at face value.

It will not cover one meal. The cash value ($44) is put towards the entire bill for non character dining.

I'm not sure if that's accurate...if your meal is $42, you can use that $44 towards it and not get a $2 refund, and it pays for one meal. If it's more than the $44 you just pay the remaining amount. Hope that makes sense.

You can use them at Table Service restaurants except for World of Color or Fantasmic! Dining Packages. We usually pay for Carthay dinner for WOC and will use the vouchers for BB lunch and vice versa.

We like Costco packages for the meal vouchers, ESPN zone voucher (I think it's only $10), luggage tags, and free 5x7 photo. They WILL price match the Disney Resort website. So for instance, we once booked GCH with Costco for (I'm guestimating the amount) $4,500 and on the Disney site it was $4375 and Costco adjusted our rate. And you still get the Costco perks.

I found this. It doesn't mention not being able to use for a fantasmic package...has this changed? image.jpg

The Fastasmic packages are new, so they wouldn't be on the older vouchers. I'm not positive, but I think it's a safe assumption that if WOC dining packages are excluded, so would Fanstasmic!

ETA: I see the date of that post is June when the dining packages were already happening, so now I don't know!

My post does not state anything about getting a refund from a voucher. OP stated they heard you can use one for one meal elsewhere. I just stated that the voucher amount is applied to the bill vs exchanging it for one meal. Depending on where you use it, you could buy several meals. We have used them at CS restaurants and fed my family using one voucher. You can also get a meal that is over $44 and then pay the difference.

I think it was the wording. I was confused by it, also. I thought you meant it wasn't enough to cover one meal, which of course is not what you were saying at all.

We use our vouchers for non-character dining as we get a lot more mileage out of them when used at other restaurants. You don't have to use them all at once or for one person; we often use just one for a lunch for 5, for instance. It used to be that you could apply any leftover amount towards the tip, but I'm not sure whether or not that is still true.

Does anybody know what the current value of an adult and child non - premium character dining voucher is worth?

Hmmm, then this may tip the balance to booking a package with Costco. I priced the PP + hoppers 'separately' but considering that I could get basically 2 'free' TS meals for two and a $40.00 gift card, that might actually make the trip cost less overall than separate booking.

Now if they'd just release the 2016 packages!
