Household Supplies needed in Vacation Rental?

We are staying in a house in Windsor Hills for 2.5 weeks in December this year. We have always stayed on site before, so this is the first time staying in a vacation rental. I understand we get a starter supply of soap, tp etc, but then we have to buy what we need. Just wondering if any experienced renters have a list of what we should expect to need. Thought we may try to bring the odd thing along from home, but wanted to have a list put together so my MIL can be prepared when they go to the grocery store the first day (they arrive first with the grandkids and one bil/sil, other bil/sil and dh/I arrive a week later). I am sure we can come up with a list, but wanted to make sure we weren't missing anything since this is a first time renting a house.

This is what I buy at the Target around the corner from Windsor Hills: hand soap, toilet paper, paper towels, paper plates and cups (I hate doing dishes on vacation), breakfast food, bottles of water, milk, sodas/powerade and snack foods. I bring my own shower soap and shampoo from home. I also bring laundry detergent from home as well as ziploc bags. You may want to bring some chip clips if you plan to buy boxes of snacks like Goldfish, etc.

Hope that helps! You don't need much unless you plan to cook meals. I only handle breakfast.

Bread, Sugar, Cold meats , Cheese , Fruit , & Orange Juice .. Florida Natural Most Pulp

Buy Sun Screen Lotion rather than using your own.

Thanks - that was the sort of thing I was thinking of. Groceries we've got under control, but wanted to make sure we remembered all the other little things that we might need like dish soap, hand soap, laundry soap, paper towels, garbage bags etc. I'm trying to get as much as I can organized and lists made before my inlaws leave as they are going to have the 3 grandkids with them so simplifying everything and bringing any little things we can from home will help. I'll probably throw in some chip clips and definitely a few ziploc bags. My MIL plans do cook a lot of meals at the house as they prefer not to eat in restaurants. Now DH, DS and I on the other hand will be going out to some restaurants once we get down as it isn't a vacation for me if I have to cook all the time!

Adding to the lists above... gladware containers (For leftovers), cleaners (Windex, or whatever you use at home to wipe down tables and clean up messes), sponges, foil, laundry detergent....

We would recommend: paper towels, napkins, dish soap, dishwasher pods, laundry soap, saran wrap or tin foil, toilet paper, salt, pepper or other desired spices, condiments, hand gel or disinfectant wipes. We have also learned to bring US singles and a roll of quarters. Since you'll be staying off site and driving you will have to deal with tolls. There are a few booths that are not manned and require exact change.

We use paper plates and cups, but we enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning, so I always take dishwasher tabs. On arrival day I load the dishwasher with utensils, cups, pans, etc. that we may use because I never know what and how they were previously washed.

Same here. Always feel better with clean dishes :)

One thing I used to forget to bring and would always have to buy some....coffee filters

You really need to check the rental before heading to the store. Lots of things folks have been mentioning, we've found well stocked at rental homes.

I don't think that anyone ever regrets buying Ziploc bags. They have a million uses, especially when you have a kitchen.

Don't forget when buying hand soap to buy some for each sink. If you have a 5 bedroom house, then you'll need 6 soaps--one for each bathroom and one for the kitchen.
