As a regular July Guest at The Walt Disney World Resort,I can assure you that comparing Tennessee/Alabama or Auburn/Alabama or Ohio State/Michigan,etc. to Argentina v. Brazil is like comparing The Barnstormer to The Hulk!!!!!lol!!!!!;):)
Which of the two coasters is Alabama/Auburn? I've never seen any rivalry that tops that one for intensity.

The parks are packed now, so they don't need these tour groups anymore. And with these groups alienating more and more loyal guests, they may be more trouble than they're worth.

Definitely high time that Disney revisited its policies again...

Good point, I agree. I just spoke to a colleague who was there a few weeks ago, she said she would never go in July again because of the tour groups. (She experienced large groups cutting her family in line to catch up with other members of their group, large groups just sitting anywhere they want. Her husband who is in security couldn't believe tons of unattended backpacks are allowed to just be deposited anywhere they want. He said that would never be allowed in an airport or subway terminal - why is a theme park any safer for that practice to be ok?)

I told her she should be getting a "how was your trip" survey soon and she should be clear about her unwillingness to return in July for no other reason than these tour groups. I think this is a good example of alienated customers because of this situation.

Well, it's politically correct to bash American tourists, but "racist" or "culturally insensitive" to criticize Brazilian/South American tour groups, no matter how obnoxious their behavior.

By the way, I'm Canadian, and every time I encounter American tourists here in Canada, they are invariably polite and well behaved. Can't say the same for the tour groups in WDW.

Just got back today from a week long, wonderful trip to DW...stayed at the Poly. We saw many tour groups every day in the parks, but never did we hear them chanting loudly (thank goodness), or practicing any of the other rude behaviors I have read about on these boards. Of course, we didn't have any staying at our resort, so we may have had a different experience if they were running up and down the hallway all night.

I will say that while my two daughters and I were waiting for SM, about 8 high school aged American girls were cheering very loudly and yelling to people they knew further up the line. An obviously irritated CM came over and firmly told them to be quiet. I was glad she did that, and so were the other people around us.

Yeah, when a CM tells you to stop doing something, it does carry weight, because the implication is that they could call security if necessary.

In what months are the tour groups most likely to show up? Some have said July and January. Any other months, and why those?

Early February as well

Alabama/Auburn would be The Barnstormer and Argentina v. Brazil would be The Hulk.:)

We're talking a rivalry between two teams within one State within one Country v. a rivalry between 2 ENTIRE COUNTRIES!!!!:)

I'm yet to be convinced. The number of people involved will be larger for ARG-BRA, but the Iron Bowl is so incredibly intense for those who are part of it.
Are you a college football fan? If not, you may be missing just how big a deal that rivalry is for the people in Alabama. I've followed UCLA-USC for over 40 years, and I'll readily admit we're not even close.
(Having said all that, I'll also admit I'm not up to speed on how intense BRA-ARG is. I suppose for soccer, it could get pretty hot.)

VERY familiar with Alabama/Auburn-the rivalry is just as intense for the people involved but Argentina v. Brazil involves MANY,MANY,MANY,MANY more people at the same intensity!:)

It is really interesting to learn about their rivalry- a lot of it revolves around whether Maradona or Pele is the GOAT,etc.:)

It is interesting to watch them interact at WDW-often when the Argentina girls see the Brazil girls, the Argentina girls will hold up 7 fingers and "taunt" the Brazil girls with ""Siete! Siete!"(7 is the number of goals Germany scored on Brazil in the World Cup)!LOL:)
