Too Young for Disney? Don't be Afraid to Take Little Ones to Disney

DH and I are taking our little man to The World in October for the first time. He will be 13 months old and we are so excited to see his reactions to everything. I frequently get asked "why would you go when he is so young, he won't remember it?" And my reply is "but we will". Life's too short to wait to do things.

Anyone who is considering taking the really little ones to Disney and are hearing mixed advice as to whether or not you'll want to make that trip. DO IT!!! I promise you won't regret a single moment of it. Here is our latest trip with a 5 month old and and a 2.5 year old. It was incredible and we had a fantastic time. Don't be discouraged by those who say not to take babies. They don't know what they're missing!!

It's been my experience that young parents will often say "We want to wait until they will remember it". But I tell them *YOU* will remember it and no one is better suited to be AWED by the magic than a 2-3 year old. I have some very fond memories of my 3 year old trying to find Peter Pan, and trying to get me to chase a parade float he was on ( along the sidewalk, "legally" of course ). Among many others. And since then we've taken my very young nieces and I've seen other very little ones be enraptured by the magic. Definitely take them!

I think if you are able to take your child(ren) to Disney numerous times when they are young, then I think, no age is too young. For those who are not able to do it that often, then I do think waiting til they are a bit older can make more sense. If we could have afforded to go every year, I would have taken them every year, from itty bitty on up. But for us, making that financial commitment, we waited until the youngest was tall enough to ride many of the rides.

Luckily, our finances have improved and we will get their more often now (hopefully every other year).

can't watch the video at work but it's refreshing to hear positives! My son is 3 and we took him at 10 months and are looking to go back next year!

We were there last week with our 2-1/2 yr old. He loved it! Rode rides, played with the characters etc. We would have been fine taking him even earlier had it worked out with our schedule.

Thanks for the support! Taking my 3.5 and 1.5 year old and people have expressed negativity which I do not understand.

I'm not sure where the negativity comes from, but this is exactly what we were feeling before our first trip, so we themed our first trip video about it ( you can see it in the link below)

Loved your video! Your kids are so adorable! I'm trying to convince my DH to take my ds to wdw next year. By then he would be 2 - 2 and half years old. After seeing your video, I am really praying that I do get to take him! it got me so excited and inspired.

I hope you can tell me which attractions your son loves best. Thanks in advance

I had no intention of taking our son until he was out of diapers and could go all day without a nap. It turns out I have a work conference at Disney when he will be just shy of 2, and we decided to make it a vacation. I am really looking forward to watching his excitement and capturing as much as I can while still living in the moment. It will be such a different trip for us but also an opportunity to slow down and enjoy the things we usually skipped over because they were for the Littles.

I had to bump this again just to tell you how helpful your video's been to prep my 22 month old for his first trip when he's 26 mos old. He loves your video as well as another on here. And each time, he reacts more and more to it. Can't wait!

(Still wish you had a trip report with it, lol! I'm always like "They managed nights and mornings at the parks! I want to know their tricks!' :) )

We took our kids when they were each six months old and continously after that. I noticed that after our trips there was a significant development in their language and vocabulary because there were so many exciting things to do and see. My nieces were always very shy and quiet when they were toddlers and I remember they went on and on about their first trip to Disneyland(they are now 17 and 16). Although kids may not remember everything, a trip to the parks contributes to their overall development in my opinion. Plus, it's a secure comfortable place to explore with baby care centers, food and drinks everywhere, open space and so much to do and see. How can you not take them??

I remember watching your son's trip video on YouTube a while back, and I thought it was absolutely adorable! Loved this one!

OMG, my DS (1) smiled and danced while watching this video! When Mickey and Minnie came on, he leaned in and kissed the screen. I just teared up. I took him on a Disney cruise for his first birthday. He lit up every time he saw Mickey and Minnie onboard.

Now, I'm planning to take him to his 1st trip to WDW this Christmas holiday season. I can't wait for him to see Mickey Mouse again! Thanks for sharing this video. :)
