Disney: work or play? (Career or vacation)

I would love to retire and move to the Orlando area but I'm not sure if I would pursue work with Disney or not. I wouldn't want a job that had me out in the elements every day, or on my feet all day especially at that point in my life. Maybe an office job would be okay, though I'd be retired so I'd be looking for something part-time.

I do have a history of making Disney somewhat of a side job. From 1986 until about 2002 or so, I very actively sold Disney collectibles. I started with a small mail-order list that grew into a 40-page catalog. I started selling at various toy and collectible shows from NY to VA. Then along came the internet and my business grew exponentially. Once ebay came to be, it was a game-changer. At my peak, I was running 100 auctions at all times and grossing up to $3,000/month in sales (not all Disney items at that point). So I wasn't working for Disney but I was very much working with Disney. It also made our trips to Disney World at that time partly business-related as I would come home with boxes of stuff to resell. I would even list items on ebay while we were still there. It was a fun time. I miss those days.

I got the best of both worlds. I get to be a CM at my local Disney store and I get all the perks that come with that title. But I also get to help others as a travel agent and the perks of helping ppl make vacation dreams come true. So I love the parks and they are vacation for me. Then I get to come home and be a CM.

At my age now, I'd take any job in the parks just to be there. Even if only for a year or so.
But I think ultimately, Id love a job that was disney related, like a TA for dreams (the fictional Auatralian branch that I've created in my dreams) but I'd love to do what JL and the rest of the podcast team get to do, that is the dream that will never come to fruition, but a dream nonetheless.
If they opened an disney park in australia, Id relocate in a heartbeat to work there, if it paid a decent wage in comparison to the Australian average

This will vary for people, but I dont think I'd like to work at a place I frequent a lot.
Or rather, I couldn't work in the actual parks or resorts if I were to work for Disney. It might ruin it for me.
As a fan, you wanna distance yourself a bit.
I have the same weird thing about the Orlando airport. I LOVE that airport (hate flying. Love the airport).
When I was looking around for jobs when I first got here, I was looking there too. But I didn't like the idea of turning this neat place I go to a few times a year to a place where I work.

While its not the same thing, i DID work at the AMC Theater at Downtown Disney years ago when I first moved to FL. I loved that theater so much, but working at it kinda took away something from it (things that would apply to any movie theater, tho :D ).

Speaking of that theater, it is LIGHT YEARS ahead of how they run it compared to when I worked.
They are truly spoiled, these kids working there now. The concession stands almost look like a pleasure to work in now (as much as you can for what you're doing).

ANYWAY, I forgot my point...
