RCL - Enchantment of The Seas - Formal Nights

First time cruiser going on 4-day out of Port Canaveral in August. I was reading something about formal attire for dinner on the ship. Can someone fill me in on this? Do I need to bring a jacket/slacks? I'm bringing a couple of polo shirts and nice shorts for evenings but didn't plan on taking formal wear. Going to Disney World after the cruise and didn't want to lug around excessive items. Any and all help really appreciated.

We are on Enchantment is January so please report how great it is! Reviews on cruise critic say formal night dress is all over the place on shorter cruises. No shorts. Slacks and dress shirt seem to be the norm. Hopefully someone who,has sailed recently can advise. Have a great trip!

Hence the reason for my thread. I'm almost ready to call RCL but I really don't want to bring a suit with me. All reviews lean toward fun times. I was happy that the Dis Unplugged crew just did this sailing on this ship recently and had an entire show dedicated to reviewing it. Really helps!

We just got off Enchantment on Monday, and by my estimate, maybe a third of the passengers (certainly well short of half) were dressed up on the second night. ("formal" night is always the second night on 3-4 night cruises). We stopped taking formal wear on short cruises a long time ago, and DW usually wears either slacks or a casual skirt and a nice top and I always wear khaki slacks and a polo in the Main Dining Room. There are more people dressed like us than dressed in formal wear. We cruise on Enchantment at least twice a year, so if there are any questions I can answer, just fire away :)
