In February, Gina-Gina-Bo-Bina posted that they have basket-style coffee machines/filters.

Basket-style, unless they have changed them since Labour Day. Here are the coffee pots that were in the villa on our last visit:

Does anyone know if Cascades buildings have skylights and which building I should look at for Friday check-in? any Cascades bldgs to avoid?

Can someone tell me how to contact Diamond Lane for my requests? Thanks

Yes Cascades buildings have skylights for the top floor villas, but I'm going to venture that they are not in all units based on the number I can see on Google maps and the photos here. I suspect that the smaller 1BR units probably do not have them.

Actually, the Friday Cascades buildings are all in pretty good locations, I wouldn't say there are any to avoid.

I've added the link to Diamond Lane to Post #2 (Important Links) on page one of this thread. Not sure why I didn't put it there a long time ago!

I just sent in my Diamond Lane request today! We go in 2 weeks! Yay!

Question: do we check in at Diamond Lane, or is that only for owners?

Diamond Lane could be used by any guest (both owners and non-owners), as long as you checked in during the hours they were open. That said, the DL office closed when they renovated the Welcome Center, and still hadn't reopened when we were there in the spring. Perhaps someone who has been there more recently can confirm if it has resumed service once again. Even though Diamond Lane itself was not open, all of our requests were still noted on our reservation and honoured by the rep who checked us in.

Only two weeks to go! You must be getting so excited!

Gina....does this mean my request went to no-where-land? Is there somewhere else I should be sending it? Thanks!

No fears, your requests advance requests will still be added to your reservation, and taken into consideration when assigning your villa. If the DL office has not yet re-opened (and if it hasn't by now....I'm wondering if it is a permanent closure?) then your check-in will just be handled by any one of the very capable Welcome Center staff. They will have access to the Diamond Lane requests you provided, and I have no doubt they will work hard to accommodate as many of those as possible, and make sure you are satisfied with your villa!

Hmm I just got an email from the concierge desk and they said that Interval International already placed a request for me and I'm confirmed in the LAKES section. Why would they request anything for me? I'm going to write backto see if that can be changed. But so far, I'm not thrilled that they're not even considering the request I put in and simply say "oh II already requested something for you".

I wasn't aware that this is something II do, we will be there for two weeks end of sept through II and I really hope I don't have this problem, hope you've managed to get it sorted xxx

No it's not sorted out. I've written back to the lady (at Sheraton) and tried calling but she's not responding.

I figure I'm not living there, I'll just be there a week - so where the stick us won't matter I guess. Not starting off on a good note with me already. I never experienced this with Marriott timeshare. (I always trade to Marriott when possible.). Marriott always responds ASAP. Oh well. It's only a week. Hopefully it'll be an ok room in an ok location.

The lakes section looks lovely , I really like the look of the units there but we have only been once before and where in the cascades section, we own at svv and did want to go there but trying to maximise my usage and couldn't get into svv with II this year as they have had no availability for my dates, I'm sure when you get to check in if your not happy with it they would change it for you but I think I would have called II and asked why they had done this , it usually states units are assigned at check in , hope you have a great time ! Please post some pics of your unit I would love to see them xxx

I'm confused about this Diamond Lane. I told my sister about it (she's the one who booked) and she has no clue about it. Never heard of it. Does everyone check in with Diamond Lane and how does that work?

Not everyone uses Diamond Lane, but, everyone can use it. Bankr63 posted the link in the second post of this thread. You fill out the request approx 2 weeks before you check-in and SVR will send you a confirmation.

There have been some changes recently, so, I'm not sure if there is still a specific Diamond "Lane" to check-in at. Bankr63 and/or Gina- may chime in to give you more detail.

Diamond Lane allows you to make special requests, like asking for a special section or elevator access (among other things).

Frankie has it right.....Diamond Lane is a way to make your specific requests in advance of your arrival. With the advance notice, it theoretically increases your chance of the resort being able to place you in a villa that will meet your personal criteria for a great stay.

No request is guaranteed, of course, but the good folks who handle villa assignments are generally pretty eager to please if its within their power to do so. bankr63 always recommends to be as general in your requests as possible (requesting "high floor, near a pool" versus a specific building and villa) to ensure a higher degree of success in having your special requests met.

The Diamond Lane office closed when the renovations to the Welcome Center were carried out. It had not yet re-opened when we were there in May. Even though the dedicated DL office was not an option for check-in, our Diamond Lane requests were still noted on our reservation and honored by the Welcome Center staff member who greeted us on arrival.

Has anyone ever used a dry cleaner while staying at SVR? If so, which one? (and how close was it to the resort?)

We need to have the wrinkles taken out of our Halloween costumes once we arrive, and apparently the Vistana doesn't have any kind of onsite laundry service (I inquired, and received a response, via their Facebook page).

I know we will have an iron and ironing board in the room, but some of the fabrics are a little different so I'd prefer both outfits be handled by professionals (just to make sure I don't wreck 'em before I wear 'em!).

Good god no! Only comfortable washable fabrics allowed on vacation for us!

Maybe take a look at the back of the Entertainment book, I'll bet there are coupons back there with addresses. Then use Google+ to locate and read a few reviews?

Can't wait for the pics; these sound like some serious costumes. :surfweb:

Thinking about Steve's penchant for meet and greets, my money's on a Superhero/heroine combination...

Excellent idea to check the Entertainment Book :thumbsup2....it never even crossed my mind to look there for inspiration!

The costumes are comfy (and lightweight.....not as easy to find as it sounded) but with the ruffles and corset and silky sleeves, I just don't want to be bothered fiddling with the iron when a dry cleaner could save me the grief. What can I say, I'm lazy on vacation  .

Since Steve was sweet enough to let me book not one, but two MNSSHP's for our trip, I left him in charge to pick the costumes and he was pirates all the way. May I say he's approaching this with way more enthusiasm and gusto than I was expecting  .... which has been nothing short of a ton of fun as we plan out our costumes . He's got a Captain Jack Sparrow type outfit and I have Pirate Maiden attire. Pop on over to my PTR on the Universal board and there's a sneek peek photo or two.

You can hang your costume in the bathroom while you take a nice steamy shower, does wonders on wrinkles
