My huband says "Let's Dine off Property " :(

We prefer to eat offsite. However we are not from the USA so Perkins is a massive treat for us as it is twice every few years

We love Smokey Bones, Bahama Breeze, Margharitaville and Cheesecake Factory but incould understand that anyone who has easy access to those would prefer to eat onsite.

Miller's Ale House is close, good and usually fast. Giordano's is a favorite of ours and we order at least once a trip.

We have always found much better and cheaper food off-site. What kind of food are you looking for. They have every chain known to man and some really good local places. We also eat at places we can't find at home.

We stay onsite, so we eat onsite. Just part of the Disney experience.
We can eat offsite the rest of the year when we are home. Maybe try telling him that.

I get it...offsite has better food and it's good for the wallet. Maybe you can compromise? Offsite a night for him and onsite a night for you?

We stay onsite for quick service, go offsite for sit down meals. To us it's better food at a more reasonable cost.
Giordano's is a must, sometimes twice each visit. We've done everything from Cracker Barrel to Logans to Olive Garden and Cheesecake Factory.

Lot's of choices: Sweet Tomatoes, Fuddrucker's, TGI Fridays, Chevy's, Buffalo Wild Wings (all at Crossroads Plaza + fast food - McDonalds, Taco Bell), Landry's, restaurants at Universal CityWalk (free admission, reduced parking after 6:00(?): Margaritaville, Bubba Gump's, Hard Rock Cafe and others). The list goes on and on...you can find almost anything.

On the parking at Universal, it has a sliding scale, normally around 8 to 10 dollars during peak times, it's been 15.00 but earlier in the day it was 30.00 to park so I guess that's a discount.

^^This^^ .

What about Hash House A Go Go, Millers Ale House or Bubbalou's Bodacious Barbecue?

Or a dinner show? The Outta Control Dinner Show is fabulous entertainment.

We have also love Carrabba's, but I know that's a chain (so it may be something you have at home).

Hash House A Go Go and Bubbalou's would be a must, we live in Orlando and both spots are really good. Be prepared at Hash House to have a lot left over, as the portions are huge. You might want to think about sharing here. Across the street from DTD, is Crossroads they have everything you can think of. Café Tu Tu Tango is another cool spot, is located on I-Drive.

But for me personally I would not want to leave and get in the traffic if I could help it.

Universal is charging $30 to park now? Wow! Last I went it was $5 after 6:00, but that was a couple years ago...and a couple years before that it was free after 6.

I totally understand where you husband is coming from. While I do love being immersed in the Disney bubble, the food is not always that great and pretty pricey. I like to go off property occasionally and there are good choices at Crossroads, Celebration and along 192. We particularly like Miller Ale House on Irlo Bronson Highway - huge menu and good prices. :thumbsup2

That seems awfully high so I just checked the website. $17.00 for regular, $25.00 for preferred, so they must be talking about valet after 6:00 p.m.

Yeah, I'm seeing that too. The $30 mentioned looks like its for valet parking over 2 hours at night. Its not difficult getting into Universal from the garage, so valet seems like a waste to me. I'm reading posts of either $5 or $7 after 6:00, which was my experience; however, there may be exceptions for special events (Halloween, etc.). Also, it looks like parking is free after 6 for Florida residents and may be free after 10:00 for everyone.

If you want a show with your meal, there's always Medieval Times and Arabian Nights.

Otherwise, I second Sweet Tomatoes. It's an all you can eat buffet, with lots of different kinds of salad, multiple soup selections, etc.

When I go to Disney, I never stay onsite and would prefer to eat outside of Disney if I can. I love places like Cracker Barrel and Waffle House because I can't get those where I live.

We're staying on property for 5 nights. When we were there this past May he kept saying more then likely would could have got better food off property. The only place out of our 10 day stay he liked was lunch at Be Our Guess.
Just the idea of having to get in the car and drive around finding a place to eat is nuts, when I can jump on a bus and go anywhere on property.
I feel you.... my DH LOVES to have a rental car and drive around town looking for deals on food.... and grocery shopping! UGH! That's why we usually travel minus a car at WDW lately...that is just not a vacation for me! In the past we have gotten better food deals offsite of course, but we tried places that we don't have at home like Steak and Shake, Golden Corral, Giordanos,Olive Garden, etc. I prefer to budget my $$ carefully and stay onsite for the relaxing factor lol... On our last trip we rented a car for the day to hit Universal, and he of course had to stop offsite for dinner after....

For me, it doesn't make sense to eat offsite unless you are going to be offsite anyway. We have eaten offsite one or two nights on trips where we have a car, but only on those nights we weren't in a park. For instance, I would never leave property, go offsite to eat, and then come back to a park. The time it takes to do that just isn't worth it to me. Usually, we want to eat before the nightshows so we just eat on site.

Personally we prefer to eat off site. Its much cheaper and we don't have to make ADR and stick to a dinning schedule. There are lots of places that are close to Disney to eat at. The places that PP have mentioned are not that far from Disney. Most are 12-15 minute drives. It nice to get away from the Disney bubble and explore and see what other places there are to eat at besides Disney. And the money you save will help fund your next trip.

Here this might help in the quest to find other places to eat and it shows how close they are

We don't venture off site much. The last time we did, we ate at Sweet Tomatoes, Landry's and Miller's Ale House.
