Help with my situation?? Best way to handle our next trip

We usually book every other year and our usual year would be 2016 however, our oldest is a senior and we were trying to decide if we should either squeeze in a trip in November of this year or wait and try to go to Hawaii this summer (from the east coast) and keep our fingers crossed that the airfare won't kill us. Here are my questions:

I have this point situation going on:

38 points that are available use year of 2014 (banked) and expire November 2015
available to borrow 2015 150

available for use year 2015 294
available to borrow 2016 150

144 expire November 30, 2016

So...we could go this November and only go 6 days due to school scheduling and not loose the 38 points but we are late in reservations and even our home resort of SS is a waitlist or wait and try for that Oahu trip that our family would love to go on since our oldest is going off to college. We would have to take this trip this summer. We have stayed at our home resort the last few times and would love somewhere else but understand this is a late reservation.

So I am asking about what I could do with the 38 points that are dur to expire? Can I rent somewhere? or should be book for this November just to have it reserved and then try for Hawaii once it opens up?? Any advice would be appreciated!

Since Hawaii is on your radar why not take a look at airfares and see what you can find and look at the RAT and see what's available at Aulani? My understanding is that brokers require more than 38 points to agree to broker a rental but you could also rent the points on your own. You might have to supplement with a few more points but it is possible to rent smaller amounts of points.
