Moving to Florida, Part 7: Invaders From Mars
Just a few more days
I'm pretty much all packed to move out of housing. Just some changes of clothes left (tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday), and my sheets and other things I use every day, like my shower stuff and my blow dryer. I even packed up all my pantry stuff so that I can just eat down what's in the fridge (eggs, hot dogs, and some fish sticks, and I think I have a microwave steamer packet of carrots and peas). I have to work tomorrow, but after that, I'm off until next Wednesday. The end of this week is because of the program and the beginning of next week is because that's when we're moving. Given the time I have to be out of the apartment on Friday and what time I can check into the hotel, there's a gap of several hours. Right now, this is what the weekend looks like:
Thursday
I'm not sure what DF has planned for Thursday.
I might go to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach and just float around the lazy river for a few hours. We have free admission to the water parks (I think until the end of the year?), so that would be fun. I might also just do nothing for a while. Sometime in the afternoon or early evening, I'm going to put the back seat down in my car and load up most of my stuff. The only things that absolutely won't be going in Thursday night are my duffel bag, computer bag, cleaning supplies, and purse. My roommates and I might go to dinner if we can. I'm not sure what their schedules are like for the end of the week.
Friday
DF and his parents are picking up the truck (due to the length of time for this move, we had to get a second one... this is a very expensive move) around 8am and will be loading it and heading out once it's packed and DF and his dad have showered. I believe he said they're driving until about 7 or 8 and then stopping for the night.
I'll be finishing packing and loading the car, then clean the apartment one last time. It's pretty clean right now, so we'd really just need to do touch ups and make sure that everything is the way it should be. I have to be out of Patterson by 11am, but can't check into the hotel until 4pm. So... Park day! I have a cooler that I can put things that need to stay cold in (but I'm trying to not bring any of those things), and will just leave everything in the car. I'm not sure what to do about my laptop, since I don't really want to leave it in the car, but don't want to carry it around. Anyway, I'm going to MK to kill a few hours. I have some fastpasses made and will just screw around until it's about 5 or 6. Then I'll head over to the hotel and check in and probably collapse on the bed.
Saturday
I hope to do nothing but veg. Depending on the weather and the state of it, I might utilize the hotel pool. Or I might just stay in the room and watch TV and read and nap. DF and his parents will be driving most of the rest of the way (possibly the whole rest of the way, I'm not sure).
Sunday
I'll most likely get more and more anxious as the day goes by, waiting for DF and his parents to arrive. They're hoping to arrive in the early afternoon. When they do arrive, I plan to put most of the stuff in my car into the moving truck. That way, if they arrive early enough on Sunday, we can go to Downtown Disney and wander around and all that and none of them have to drive. If they don't get there early enough to make it worth it, or if they don't feel like going to DTD at all, we'll probably get dinner at one of the restaurants around the hotel.
Monday
Not sure what we're doing in the morning. We have to be out of the hotel at 11am, and we can't go to the new apartment to start moving in until 2pm. Maybe we'll get a late check out and then go have lunch. We can't exactly go grocery shopping when things will stay in the car for several hours, you know? So, we'll start moving in around 2 and hopefully be done fairly quickly. We're on the first floor, so that's a good thing. I have no idea what we'll do for dinner that night. Probably pasta (if we can find the cooking stuff).
Tuesday
I made a lunch reservation at Captain's Grille for the four of us, since I have a really good discount there. DF and I also want to show his parents the gazebo
After that, I'm not sure if they're going to head straight back to Arkansas or stay at the hotel for one more night (which, that having just occurred to me, means that we'll have somewhere to spend the time between when DF and I have to check out and when we can go to the apartment to move in).
So... That's the general plan for now. It'll probably change a bit depending on exhaustion levels and weather and all that. But... YAY! He's almost here! Just a few more days!
