Two Geeks and A 9/16 At-Home Disney-ish Wedding - We're married!

Yup! We were on Skype for a bit last night while he was going through the last minutiae of the apartment. It was weird to see it empty again. Ten days left and he'll be here.

Moving to Florida, Part 7: Invaders From Mars

:yay: :yay: Just a few more days :yay: :yay:

I'm pretty much all packed to move out of housing. Just some changes of clothes left (tomorrow, Thursday, and Friday), and my sheets and other things I use every day, like my shower stuff and my blow dryer. I even packed up all my pantry stuff so that I can just eat down what's in the fridge (eggs, hot dogs, and some fish sticks, and I think I have a microwave steamer packet of carrots and peas). I have to work tomorrow, but after that, I'm off until next Wednesday. The end of this week is because of the program and the beginning of next week is because that's when we're moving. Given the time I have to be out of the apartment on Friday and what time I can check into the hotel, there's a gap of several hours. Right now, this is what the weekend looks like:

Thursday
I'm not sure what DF has planned for Thursday.

I might go to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach and just float around the lazy river for a few hours. We have free admission to the water parks (I think until the end of the year?), so that would be fun. I might also just do nothing for a while. Sometime in the afternoon or early evening, I'm going to put the back seat down in my car and load up most of my stuff. The only things that absolutely won't be going in Thursday night are my duffel bag, computer bag, cleaning supplies, and purse. My roommates and I might go to dinner if we can. I'm not sure what their schedules are like for the end of the week.

Friday
DF and his parents are picking up the truck (due to the length of time for this move, we had to get a second one... this is a very expensive move) around 8am and will be loading it and heading out once it's packed and DF and his dad have showered. I believe he said they're driving until about 7 or 8 and then stopping for the night.

I'll be finishing packing and loading the car, then clean the apartment one last time. It's pretty clean right now, so we'd really just need to do touch ups and make sure that everything is the way it should be. I have to be out of Patterson by 11am, but can't check into the hotel until 4pm. So... Park day! I have a cooler that I can put things that need to stay cold in (but I'm trying to not bring any of those things), and will just leave everything in the car. I'm not sure what to do about my laptop, since I don't really want to leave it in the car, but don't want to carry it around. Anyway, I'm going to MK to kill a few hours. I have some fastpasses made and will just screw around until it's about 5 or 6. Then I'll head over to the hotel and check in and probably collapse on the bed.

Saturday
I hope to do nothing but veg. Depending on the weather and the state of it, I might utilize the hotel pool. Or I might just stay in the room and watch TV and read and nap. DF and his parents will be driving most of the rest of the way (possibly the whole rest of the way, I'm not sure).

Sunday
I'll most likely get more and more anxious as the day goes by, waiting for DF and his parents to arrive. They're hoping to arrive in the early afternoon. When they do arrive, I plan to put most of the stuff in my car into the moving truck. That way, if they arrive early enough on Sunday, we can go to Downtown Disney and wander around and all that and none of them have to drive. If they don't get there early enough to make it worth it, or if they don't feel like going to DTD at all, we'll probably get dinner at one of the restaurants around the hotel.

Monday
Not sure what we're doing in the morning. We have to be out of the hotel at 11am, and we can't go to the new apartment to start moving in until 2pm. Maybe we'll get a late check out and then go have lunch. We can't exactly go grocery shopping when things will stay in the car for several hours, you know? So, we'll start moving in around 2 and hopefully be done fairly quickly. We're on the first floor, so that's a good thing. I have no idea what we'll do for dinner that night. Probably pasta (if we can find the cooking stuff).

Tuesday
I made a lunch reservation at Captain's Grille for the four of us, since I have a really good discount there. DF and I also want to show his parents the gazebo :teeth: After that, I'm not sure if they're going to head straight back to Arkansas or stay at the hotel for one more night (which, that having just occurred to me, means that we'll have somewhere to spend the time between when DF and I have to check out and when we can go to the apartment to move in).

So... That's the general plan for now. It'll probably change a bit depending on exhaustion levels and weather and all that. But... YAY! He's almost here! Just a few more days!

Just a few more days!!! So exciting :D

I forgot to ask, and I apologize if you mentioned it already, but are you staying at the same location in DHS? We'll have to look out for you in our trip next week :D

If you do decide to go to the park on Friday, you can maybe rent a locker to put your laptop in.

So soon now until your DF arrives! :cool1:

I know, I'm so thrilled! :yay: :teeth:

I will be at DHS until September 12, and then I'm moving to Epcot for F&W! I think I'm there until January, but I'm not entirely sure. But yeah, if you guys have time, I'd love to meet up with you some time next week! I'm not sure what our plans are beyond Tuesday, lol.

That's true, and I think CMs get free lockers.

Photographers, Site Visits, and Bridesmaids

Even though I really really wish we could afford to get the Roots for our photography, there's just no way we can afford them. So, thanks to a suggestion from elphie101, I looked up E. Gilbert Photography, who has a similar style and lower price point. After poking around at her website, I came across her "About" page. Turns out she's a big geek, much like us, so I sent her a message. She has complete availability for next October at this time, so once DF and I get things finalized, we'll likely be getting in touch with her again for a possible contract. I'd emailed her and she said she's going to be on vacation for a few days, so we'll figure it out. There's also a plus in that she offers a discount for DFTW weddings.

We're also going to do a site visit once Matt gets here. I'm not entirely sure when. It looks like Michelle (our sales rep) is going to be out of town for a few days, but I'd have to look at the email again. I told her that we'd call and set something up once he's here and we have a better idea of what schedules are going to look like. He's currently applying for jobs (there's been a debacle involving his job :headache:), and has one in for Disney, so hopefully something will pop. I know he wants to see the Gazebo with her (not entirely sure why), and I'd like to see some spots that we can't really get to without a guide. We can go see SBP and the WP, and the World Showcase venues are easily accessed as well.

Well... Last month, I got into an argument with one of my bridesmaids. She recently went through a very bad break up, which is currently discoloring everything in her life. She'd messaged me after July 4 to ask how my holiday was, and I told her the truth, that it was lonely. She told me, "It may have been lonely, but at least you have someone". Yes, because having Matt in my life completely negates the fact that he, and everyone else I love, is a thousand miles away on a national holiday and I can't even watch the fireworks on TV because of my work schedule. It just turned into this whole big mess, where she told me some really hurtful things, including that when I talk to her about him and our wedding, it's "like a knife in her side". We didn't talk to each other for about two weeks after that. She sent me another text either last week or the week before and asked if we were still friends. I told her the truth, that I honestly wasn't sure. She blocked my number and deleted me and everyone she knew through me from Facebook. So I'm now back to three bridesmaids (my sister, best female friend, and another good friend). Honestly, I didn't really want her in the bridal party anyway. Matt prodded me into asking her.

So that's that.

Matt and his parents are out to dinner tonight, and I don't have to be back at work until next Wednesday. I'm hoping to enjoy these next few days off. A friend of mine and I might go to a park tomorrow, but he had to start work before we could figure out any details. I suggested Typhoon Lagoon, but it'll probably end up being a theme park. Which is fine. I just want to make sure that I pack up the car before I go. Or that I come back early enough to do it.

Every time you post I look at your ticker and I just think about what it'll be like when it says 6 months or less!

How fun to start reaching out to photographers!! After talking to DFTW of course I feel like they're really the next big step in solidifying that you are actually in the planning process.

Eeesh. I'm so sorry about the bridesmaid drama. It sounds like it's all the best for you in the end that she's not involved in such a big day in your lives, but I know it still sucks to go through that with someone you consider a friend (I had a friend tell Kevin while I was on the CP that long distance dating "doesn't really count" and we weren't actually together all because she was going through her own relationship turmoil and lashing out. People have a funny way of coping with things, to put it mildly).

I'll be thinking of you as the weekend grows closer :) The end is in sight!

Thinking of you!!! Not long to go to moving out and having DF with you. It might have felt like an eternity being apart....but you're now back together again. YAY!

I'm so glad things look promising with a photographer you both like! :) I'm sorry to hear about your friend/bridesmaid. It is probably best in the end that it happened now, rather than shortly before the wedding. It still really stinks.

Me too! I looked at it last night and was thinking "Wow, it's really moved quite a bit..."

Agreed! That's pretty much the only outside vendor I want (except maybe videography, if we decide to go for that), so it makes sense. But thank you for the recommendations! :)

Aren't people fun? I honestly just can't deal with her and her stuff anymore. She's very very flaky and I can barely count on her for anything, which is why I didn't want her in the bridal party to begin with. The only reason she was was because Matt kept prodding me and I asked her to shut him up. I know she has some serious issues going on, but I just can't anymore. Even if we do end up patching things up (which I doubt, considering the things that were said), she's not going to be in the bridal party and I'm hesitant to even invite her as a guest. But yeah, people are strange sometimes. It's just part of being human.

They leave Arkansas tomorrow! :yay:

So sorry about your friend. That's so hurtful.

It happens. I know that most of it probably has to do with the fact that our situations are currently sort of polar opposites (I'm in a wonderful, stable relationship with an amazing man that I'm marrying in just over a year and just got my dream job, and she's dealing with major depression after a horrible break up with the man she wanted to marry and is working for her dad), but... You don't SAY stuff like that. You know?

Thinking of you!!! Not long to go to moving out and having DF with you. It might have felt like an eternity being apart....but you're now back together again. YAY!

Almost! He'll be back on the road tomorrow and then here either late Saturday or sometime on Sunday :yay:

I'm so glad things look promising with a photographer you both like! :) I'm sorry to hear about your friend/bridesmaid. It is probably best in the end that it happened now, rather than shortly before the wedding. It still really stinks.

Me too! Her work looks really good and while I like the Arndts, she has lower pricing. So... We'll see what happens. And yeah, it does stink about my friend. But what can you do. Like I told PIO, I know a lot of it has to do with the contrast between our lives right now, but there was a lot of other stuff going on with her that gave me pause. So I do think it's for the best.

Yay for photographer!
Yay for Matt leaving tomorrow!
Yay for finally getting closer to a move in date!

BOO HISS ON THAT GIRL! I mean seriously??!!

Well, the photographer's not completely set yet. We just have a couple of options :)

He said they should be getting on the road by 11am, but definitely by 2pm. My car is just about entirely packed up, I just have a few things I didn't feel comfortable leaving in there overnight (or that I need in the morning).

Moving in on Monday! FINALLY!

Yeah, I kind of had that same reaction. I still can't really believe she said it, but that was honestly kind of par for the course for our friendship.
