Food Allergy Menus (pictures in thread)

But I do like the menus as a guide, and maybe to help speed up the dining process. Disney has always been the best at taking care of our food needs, and I am hoping that these menus just make it even better.

Does anyone know if the pastries at Be Our Guest breakfast contain (much) milk? And what do you get if you tell them you are lactose intolerant? I am thinking of ordering the meat & cheese platter. The husband gets my cheese and the bread should be fine... I can handle a BIT of milk but not much.
Also, what do they give you at Hoop-Dee-Doo as desert if you are lactose-intolerant? The strawberry shortcake does seem to contain lots of milk...

I don't think you will get an "amount" of dairy in the baked goods. Without a recipe you won't know. One should assume they are using butter, cream, milk in baked goods. If you are only lactose intolerant then perhaps take some of those pills before hand.

At WDDR, a large platter of fruit was what we got but we have allergies to many things so perhaps they can do more if dairy is the only thing one is avoiding.

I am lactose-intolerant, but I don't have it noted on our ADRs. Maybe I have a milder case, as I can eat some dairy and generally baked goods aren't a problem unless cream-filled or such. I just find it much easier to manage my own choices than rely on what a restaurant might recommend. I've found that more often than not, they will err on the side of caution and treat my lactose-intolerance as a full-blown dairy allergy, thereby not allowing me to order anything with dairy. I've tried the lactaid pills or chews but didn't find they worked well for me. I simply avoid the obvious dairy-containing foods such as ice cream, pudding, cheese toppings, cream fillings, etc. and self-regulate based on how I am feeling that day.

Enjoy your vacation!

At Hoop you can just request the shortcake with no whipped cream. It's really just a yellow cake mix type cake with frozen berry sauce.

Thank you all. I have now ordered the meat & chees platter without cheese and will see what happens. And at HDD, I will ask when we are there if we can get cake without cream.

Does anyone know, at the QS locations...do I still have to wait and talk to a manager/chef?
My issues are just gluten and I would like to just order like everyone else and not have to wait the extra time. Usually, I just order a salad and be done with it so my family doesnt have to wait for me. :(

I am not 100% sure if you have to, but my guess would be yes. When we were there last September they had allergy menus at ABC in HS, and even though we ordered off of it, a manager had to take our order and they cooked it separately from the other orders. We are going back this September, and I can let you know if your trip is after ours. Here is what the Disney blogs says: "Guests are still able to consult directly with a restaurant chef or special diets trained cast member. We also encourage guests to continue to communicate special dietary needs to our restaurant cast members, as this allows our culinary team to take extra measures during preparation to prevent the introduction of the allergen."

Thanks for this thread! I asked Disney for menus and they sent one and just told me to ask once I was there. This helps know where we'll be ok to eat!

I have to say I hated the new menus. In some cases they are clear you will be getting a different item than the regular menu like baked chicken vs fried chicken but in many cases it's not clear and you end up with gluten free items when you have no issues with gluten. That bothers me intensely because they often use unusual ingredients in gluten free foods and I don't want to try something new on vacation having multiple allergies and because they often don't taste good to people used to eating gluten. Additionally if you are allergic to soy but not soybean oil which is very common it lists almost everything as off limits. I found that with the new menus chefs were not as aware of ingredients as they used to be and I had a lot more trouble getting accurate info Ina timely fashion. For people who just have 1 allergy that is not life threatening I'm sure it's easier but it's made chefs less educated and less willing to help than ever before.

I ordered a dairy-free meal at BOG breakfast and got some gluten-free/dairy-free cake instead of my pastry plate. I'm not gluten free and I didn't like them much so I ended up eating some of Mum's normal pastry plate instead.

The allergy waffles were pretty tiny and came out cold. I can't say I was satisfied with my food (should have ordered the bacon & egg sandwich minus the cheese!!) but I enjoyed how well themed the restaurant was.

Thank You for posting this info. I am allergic to coconut. My husband is allergic to crab. My sons are allergic to milk and egg.

Thank you so much for this. I didn't even know these menus existed. I have a tree nut allergy and this will help me plan greatly.

Another thank you to you all for your efforts. I know things change, but it helps a lot for those of us dealing with allergies.

Thank you for the menus! My dd15 has a peanut allergy and my ds7 has a milk allergy (not lactose intolerance). The peanut allergy is pretty easy to manage...the dairy allergy is a nightmare b/c milk is in everything!
