Hooray, and Thank you, Disney! No more having to take a stack of gift cards to the front desk to pay off room charges, or reading number after number to Member Accounting to pay annual dues with gift cards!

I don't know how recent this update is. It might be old news on the boards, but I just happened upon it, today. When using www.disneygiftcard.com to check the balances of a new batch of Target gift cards I just received in the mail, I noticed a link to "transfer balances." After setting up an account, I was able to register my gift cards and transfer balances between them. I combined the balances from 16 different cards I'd purchased from Target onto a single card.

Yes! Yes! Yes!

You can add up to 5 gift cards to manage. Once you have more than one card registered, you can transfer balances between them. While you're limited to only 5 cards, you can delete them as you transfer the balances off of them, which frees up room for another.

I know I'm getting very excited about a silly thing, but it really does take a long time to pay with many, many cards. I'm glad Disney has finally given us a self-service way to make it easier.

Excellent! AFAIK, this hasn't been reported here yet.

Thanks for posting. :)

This is wonderful! I can still use my DVA to save up and pay for everything I can pre-trip and then switch over to this to limit our gift cards for our resort purchase once we are there.

So it kind of works.....I did 3 then it started to say gift card not eligible they had the 50 on them from target only weird thing was I bought 10 in one day to save the 5% so they were from that stack so I am stopping for now something scares me I am going to lose the one with all the value lol. So it works sometimes also I got 10 dollar ones from disney movie club and they can't be combined either.

I had this happen too! No explanation it just won't let me add anything to that card. Strange.

People have been reporting the cards from Target are not active. Might check and see if that's the problem. Target knows about it and can fix it.

This is great news! Now I only have to bring 1 gift card with me to WDW to pay down a balance. There have been some funky issues with WDW and processing gift cards as a form of payment with the online system but it works perfectly fine via phone and on site from my recent experience (over the last maybe 3 months or so).

what do you mean they are not active? when i log in to the card it has the 50 dollar balance on it but just says it cant be moved to another card......

I recently combined some small amount cards - which was nice.

However, I am a bit leary about the idea of having a lot of money on a single gift card. We typically have $100 GC and usually bring 10-15 of them to pay for incidentals. My thought is to combine the $100 GC to make $200 GC. I don't think I would want more than that on a single card.

I don't think I would want a large balance on a card either if I were carrying it around for incidentals at WDW. However, for times you are trying to purchase tickets, APs, or pay for a package with gift cards and are limited to just entering one, I can see this working great.

Also, FWIW, there are iphone apps you can use to enter manage, and use your gift cards without having to carry them around the park.

Please let me know which apps they are. Also please let me know the advantage of using the app instead of paying with their magic band & paying that off at the resort. Thanks!

Does not always work just tried with my DD set and she had 3 25 dollar ones from lowes that could be combined but those could not be combined with ones bough at the Disney store. So something is up with like kind cards

Thanks so much for posting this! Makes using gift cards much easier:cloud9: We have cards from Sam's Club and Target as well as some my daughter received as gifts that I'm not sure of their origin. All were able to be registered and combined with no problems:thumbsup2 The only thing I have found is that you cannot load more than $1000 on to one card. We're leaving a card with 0 balance on our account and going to lock this in the safe. Hoping that if we're unfortunate enough to lose a card and notice it quickly enough we can just log on and transfer the balance to this empty card.

That is a clever idea! I didn't think of that, I tossed all my empty ones. But the one that I transferred everything (worked flawlessly) to, will just go in the room safe when we get there, and then to the front desk to pay the bill.
