Nice to see such an active community here. We are new DVC owners and we did not just drink the kool aid, we snorted it. This forum helped so much in our decision to buy as an informed customer. Without the threads posted and information given I would have made some poor choices. So thanks all!!!!

Disney has such a strong positive magical history with most of us that we just assume that DVC would be a positive magical purchase and ownership. I assumed that the resorts would be a 4 1/2 star experience and that members were something special. Didn't know until after buying that the rooms can be very worn and that there can be cleaning issues or that there would be long telephone hold times just to make a reservation or a website with over a year of problems.

Billmy poor choices would have been
1. I would have just bought what they were selling, which is Poly. Nothing against Poly but I am not a Poly fan and would have spent a good amount to get it.
2. I would have never known to say hey we are AKV junkies and will not buy anything but. So Disney of course came back and said "ohh by the way we have one you want." We like to stay there 90% of the time.
3. Did a good deal of soul searching and being the somewhat impatient(ADHD
and skeptical person I wanted to buy straight from Disney. This forum really helped me weigh the pros and cons. It also helped me put on the brakes to not make a quick decision. Even when we were at Disney... which can be hard to do.
Without the good advice here I would not have thought of any of this and be sitting with Poly as my home resort.
