Yay! I'm in for the 3 races again as long as I get in. Thanks for setting up the thread! :tink:

Need some advice about what race(s) to sign up for. Hubs and I have been training for 5Ks and are doing Disney 5K in September and Avengers 5K in November to see how we're doing with pacing.

With the nearly six-month gap between the last 5K and this race, should we just sign up for the 10K as part of our training? Or, should we sign up for the 5K and be 'safe' ... or the crazier option: do both? :)

Does anyone know how fast the 5K races have been selling out lately? I am going to go online to register right when it opens but it's my first time and I don't know the process. I don't want to risk it being sold out within minutes. Also can I register 2 people at a time? I would need to register for both my son and I and I would hate for it to be sold out before I can do the second registration.

It is such a stressful process :(

With already being ready for the 5k by next month and Nov, you should be more than fine for Tink and the 10k. You'll have a great base to build upon and there are even 10k training programs that are as short as 6 weeks. Now as for both... I say do it! But I'm a total enabler and biased b/c the Tink 5k is my fave race by far (you start by the castle in DL and the whole course is in the park). The 5k is more of a fun run and as long as you're moving forward you'll be fine and w/ it being a fun run, if you get worried about the 10k the next morning, just take your time and enjoy the race and character stops.

This one usually sells pretty fast (just don't remember how fast) and w/ the anniversary year it'll go a little quicker. But if you're registering just for the 5k you should be fine. If you're registering for the challenge and the 5k, go challenge 1st then 5k. B/c you're registering your son, you can reg him as well.; if it's for an adult over 18, they now need to reg themselves. I would get on the rD Tink reg section of the site at 8:50 (Pacific time) or so and just keep hitting the refresh button. Another tip would be to open a word document if you're on a desktop and type out your credit card # in advance so you can double check it to make sure it's right w/o any stress and then paste it when you're checking out.

I noticed that they don't really bother about time for the 5K races - I did the Disneyland 5K about five years ago and people were walking it in about 90 minutes and they didn't care.

I was thinking the 5K would be a good warm-up for the 10K to get ready. thanks for the advice - putting the money out there is great motivation to do the race.

Thanks Belle Ella for this thread and all the info. My friend Anna and I will be in for the 10K!!

This will be my first Disney Race, I, my daughter and my sister will be signing up for the 10K, can't wait , but seriously hope I can get us all registered at the same time, my plan is to have 3 laptops up and going with the info, is it better to go thru run disney or thru Active.com/

I always have active up and am logged in, but do the registering through the rD link on their page. Heads up though, for your sister if she isn't registering, you'll have to do a separate login name for her. They changed it a few races back. You can do kids, but anyone over 18 has to be on a separate registration.

I'm in for the PDC! Just hoping I can get the days off I need when it comes down to it. *fingers crossed*

Yes and the stress of registering is killing me! :rotfl: At least this time I managed to actually not mess up the "are you registered for Active?"-question. For the Star Wars, I kept putting in my information under the wrong box, then cursing because it didn't work. Hee.

But in for the 5K...this feels almost as bad as the D23 Expo Sorcerers registration. :smickey:

I'm in for PDC and the Spouse Thingy for the 10K. Considering I'm a walker and not a runner...I should consider training, eh? :)

No time like the present! We're going to conquer a Couch210K program once we get past the Disneyland 5K. We're using that to set our baseline (no practice - haha) and then improve from there. Avengers 5K will give us a good idea of where we are. Unfortunately we missed the Star Wars 5K signup, so we're basically on our own from December to May.
