How to run CPAP without electricity?

Sorry, this is a bit OT, but we're going camping near home and the site we got doesn't have electricity. My DH has sleep apnea and really ought to use his CPAP at night in order to get a restful night's sleep. (And *I* need him to use it or else I don't get sleep due to his snoring!!!

It's a "walk in" site, so we can't use our car for power, either. (It's not a far walk, but it's too far for an extension cord.)

Anyone have tips on how to run a CPAP at night? (If we have to charge up a device during the day in the car, that's fine - I just don't want it running out at night.)

Does your Home Care/DME provider have a battery operated unit you could rent for the trip? I need an oxygen concentrator at night but I have a portable, battery operated unit too.
I am not sure if such a thing exists, but I would look for that. Without that feature, I don't think you can

I don't think you can run one without electricity of some sort. Because CPAP stands for "CONTINUOUS Positive Air Pressure" there needs to be source to enable the "CONTINUOUS" part. Typically it's a motor/pump. I suppose one could be created to use an air tank, but that would probably be less convenient then a portable battery powered one.

There is a "Transcend" mini CPAP that has a battery option, of course it's not very cheap.

Interestingly I found one that is in development that would be perfect for exactly what you need at http://www.cpap.com/blog/airingmicropap/ but it's not expected to be available (or at least not for FDA approval) until 2017.

My uncle uses the respironics battery. That's a name brand one but there are tons on Amazon. It's expensive because Li-On allows for a much smaller battery than SLA with better efficiency. When he needed power for 10 days he brought along a spare RV battery.

A quick Amazon search shows THIS brand to be very popular

If you search for "running cpap on battery" you'll run across a few different places that supply battery packs specifically for CPAP machines. I did note one that showed it was good for 24 hours of continuous use. I'll PM you the website.

If it is a Respironics unit it runs on 12V DC, Cpap.com sells a cable with battery clamps to hook it to a small car battery, thats more than enough to run it all night. I ran mine 5 hrs from my car with the engine off a few weekends ago and the battery had no problem starting the car in the morning.

They make battery jumper boxes which allow you to plug into it, it usually also has an air compressor and jumper cables. You would need 110 to charge it during the day though. Not sure how long it would run the CPAP you's have to try it ahead of time.
