Flying West Jet what to expect?

We are going on a Make A Wish trip in September and just got our boarding passes etc. and found out we are flying West Jet from Pearson. We have only ever flown Spirit Air from the US the few times we have traveled and you get NOTHING on those flights. LOL

I would like to pack things to keep the kids busy, last time we flew a couple years ago we packed headphones for everyone but couldn't use them because you had to pay for radio, TV etc. So it was a waste. I am just wondering what, if anything, West Jet offers during their flights so I can plan and pack accordingly.

I looked on their website but couldn't find the info.

Westjet is definitely better. TV is free as long as you bring your own headphones. I can't remember if you have to pay for headphones or they hand them out for free since I used my own. I bought little colouring sticker packs from the dollar store. They have Disney themed ones. They give you a very very small snack and a non-alcoholic drink included. Extra food can be bought.

WOW that is actually way more than I expected thanks so much. We will definitely bring our own headphones and some little toys, coloring etc. and a snack or two. Luckily it's not a long flight at all so it shouldn't be that hard to keep them entertained they are just going to be VERY excited. LOL

I would inquire with Make A Wish. If that is what your flying under, you may be very very surprised at what is being included. Glad your Wish is being fulfilled.

Free TV but it isn't long after you enter US airspace that you lose some channels as Westjet loses the satellite. Usually a choice between a sweet and salty snack. Free soda, juice, tea and coffee. Depending on the length of the flight, they'll come around later offering water as well.

Dollarama is definitely your friend for any type of travel.

Sounds great, thanks so much for the info everyone. I am pleasantly surprised with all the offerings West Jet has, it will definitely make the flight a little easier with the kiddos. ;)

For SURE hitting up the dollar store for some headphones, toys and goodies for the flight. :smooth:

We fly to Orlando on WestJet and out of Fort Lauderdale back to Toronto a few weeks ago and neither plane had TV's in the seats. It was bring your own IPAD or whatever. You could rent a tablet from them. We have flown with them a few times now since July 0f 2013 and none of the planes had TV's in the seats now that I think about it. Service was excellent though and always on time.

That sucks regarding no more TV's in the seats. It's been about a year since I've flown West Jet so it must have been just before they discontinued.

I haven't flown West Jet since 2012 an I know a lot has changed since then.

We went from Toronto to Orlando and the airline staff asked before take off if anyone was going to see Micky while in Orlando. The plane erupted with a big cheer! They then told us that movies were normally an extra fee but today the Disney movies would be free. When they gave us our drinks they used WDW napkins. It was not much but was a great touch of pixe dust to the start of our trip.

For my trip next year I wanted to go with West Jet but the time of the flights didn't work out for me so I decided to pay extra and book two one way trips. Delta going out and WJ for the trip home.

That's disappointing about the TV's. We will bring a tablet as it's an augmentative communication device for him so we will have that but with 3 kids it could get interesting. LOL I will just have to pack some extra toys and busy items maybe some card games.
