We are traveling in (by car) on Friday December 18 and staying one night prior to WDW check in on Saturday December 19.

What is anyone's personal favorites that they have stayed at?

I would say 15 to 20 miles max from WDW.

Thank you in advance for your time.

You might want to check out the Celebration Hotel in Celebration (its owned by Marriott, called the Bohemian Hotel). That time of year the downtown is decorated and it "snows" every night, we have great restaurants here too. DIsney built our town so we are right next to Disney:) There is also the Melia Suites in town also, just not right downtown.

Look at the Best Western Lake Buena Vista, Wyndham Lake Buena Vista Resort and Courtyard Orlando Lake Buena Vista in the Marriott Village.

I will definitely check them out. Thank you for the information.

I'm not picky on my accommodations like the spouse is.

The main goal is staying under $100 for the night or I might just book a value at disney.

- You are kinda at the beginning of the holiday rates.
- Downtown Disney hotels are great spot to be especially if you want to enjoy DTD that night, but always check for their resort and parking fees, it can really move your price up quickly. http://www.downtowndisneyhotels.com/
- Buena Vista Suites, not far out of DTD is in your price range. Book via mousesavers for good rates and before August 1 and you won't have to pay their resort fee they are adding after August 1st. http://www.mousesavers.com/buena-vista-suites/ They have complimentary breakfast.
- Look at Maingate Resort and Spa. Older renovated resort, nicely done and very reasonable. http://www.maingateresortandspa.com/kissimmee-hotel-accommodations.htm

Marriott.com Look for Marriott Grande Vista under packages there is a $30 food credit package. We did for one night before our WDW stay then liked it & came back the next year for a week. We used the credit in the golf course clubhouse restaurant for breakfast & headed to WDW. If not MGV, check out SpringHill Suites nearest DTD. It's nice b/c of the healthy free breakfast. They have fresh spinach, eggs salsa,an oatmeal bar & just really yummy options! +it's quick in & out hotel near Bahama Breeze & other good restaurants. Pretty swimming pool in the courtyard of the hotel as well.

That was my thought process too. Being close to DTD is a great way to start your WDW vacation.

We almost always do offsite night before checking in for a Disney trip. If we are arriving early enough that we can check in then head over and really enjoy DTD I love being down there! Last fall I booked 3 nights at Doubletree before and then 2 nights after at the B Resort - great way to start and finish our trip.

But if we are getting in later and just chilling and going to bed I'll look for something truly off site to save money and not having to deal with Hotel Plaza Blvd and traffic.

How did you like the B resort? I was mulling over staying there, but there are a lot of bad reviews on line. Most say the rooms are damp. It looks awesome in pics tho ugh.

Very happy there and will be going back. Not sure if you ever stayed when it was Royal Plaza, I did, and was shocked when I walked in. Never would have recognized where I was. We loved the chic boutique look, it brings a whole new option to the Disney area. We found the staff to be very friendly and helpful, everyone was always saying hello and welcome.

In the fall myself and two DS stayed a few nights in a tower room. Being older building, the room was very large, we had two extremely comfortable queen beds and a fold out double bed. We were in an accessible room so the bathroom was different but very well done. Very contemporary but comfortable. We were focused on parks so never really enjoyed the rest of the hotel but we walked all over.

In spring my DS returned with a friend and they stayed in a poolside room on the ground floor so they would have the private patio and pool access. They did park and pool time. They stayed 3 nights and only positives to say about it. They went on a B Resort buy two get one free nights, no fees, paid for parking. Great location for them to use buses and on a late night they took a Disney bus to DTD then walked. He said they absolutely would go back.

Both Mousesavers and the hotel direct have offered some good deals with resort fee and parking waived.

We have stayed at the B Resort twice now and really loved it. The rooms are very spacious, clean and up to date. WE have also stayed at the doubletree and really liked that as well...the bed was super comfortable!

I've been researching all day and of course, I find the help I need on the Dis....:yay: My family and I kind of made our own land and sea package this year - Royal Caribbean 4-Day cruise and then WDW for 6 days. We come in early the day before our cruise and we were just going to stay at a hotel close to the airport and then just head over to Port Canaveral the following day. Got a great deal on a car so I thought about spending the day at Downtown Disney....and while we're at it, why stay so far away. Just booked Spring Hill Suites Lake Buena Vista with my AAA discount....$100.12. This is cheaper than the hotel close to the airport and I got a rental car for the day for $27.00 [out the door]! Can't think of a better way to kick start our vacation. I booked this hotel because I'm a Marriott rewards member and it's so close to DTD. Just found out its been renovated in 2014 as well!

So thank you [for posting] and good luck in your quest...have a wonderful vacation!

I am planning for orlando as my friend's wedding is there. She had book a hotel there for all her guest's which also includes me, now I just hope that, hotel which she had booked for all, consist of hotel safes in hotel rooms, so that I won't have to care about my valuables in my absence.

What hotel?

While it looks really nice, I can not spend $263 for a night there. I could just stay at Disney for that.
Okay. You just asked for favorite, not low budget. :) Low budget try Champion World. We have stayed there for $60 with military discount but their rack rate is also less expensive that most.
