No more bringing items to be signed...

Ah, that's too bad. We love the T-shirt and photo mat that we had signed. But I can understand it from their perspective. Someone was backstage doing this for free (?). But I hope that this doesn't mean that more people will be having the characters sign things during meet and greets. I noticed that it really slowed the lines down when they did this.

Bummer. We got a pillowcase signed on our first trip and my son was looking forward to and planning to get a photo matte for late next month. Not the most magical news. :sad2:

Aww, that sucks... I'm planning our first cruise for next year, and I was really looking forward to that!

I don't see how it won't mean this. :-(

I think we'll have to see a stop to it at meet and greets as well or it will get ridiculous! I envision them saying autograph books only.....

Wow, they are stopping it as of my cruise. I already bought a photo mat. Guess I will be walking it around to characters.

One way we can express our disappointment with this new policy is to complain on our customer comment form at the end of each cruise. They seem to take these comments very seriously. With the money we pay, it seems they can hire an extra cm to do the signings.

LOL!! Why should DCL hire an extra CM for this? This was done as a courtesy to customers and was never an official practice. It was never something promised as part of the cruise experience.

I agree! It would be like DCL hiring someone to co-ordinate fish extender groups...this was never something DCL introduced and neither was the character signing....as previous posters on this and the other thread have stated, it was something that a few cruisers were able to do as pixie dust (you don't ask you don't get right?) and everyone else jumped on the band wagon. It's a shame but we shouldn't be flaming DCL for stopping something that has become out of hand!

This is a bummer. My kids loved their pillowcases and treasure them! It saved me the hassle of lugging their autograph books everywhere. I'm disappointed in this new policy. I wish they had given a little more notice, I already bought a really cool photo mat for our November trip and I was trying to avoid traveling around the ship with it!

I would have happily paid a surcharge to have this done. It was a great souvenier from our first ever Disney cruise. I'm sorry it isn't available for our next one. :(

Thanks for sharing the update OP!

I don't blame them for stopping. With boards like this and other social media sites, this has gotten out of control. I read a post where someone said they were at guest services and another passenger was yelling at the cast member because a signature they did not want was on their expensive item.

I ordered a specially made pillowcase from Etsy to get signed-paid about $20 for it-it has DGS name and the Dream ship on it. VERY disappointed. And you think we may not be able to get it autographed at character greetings too? Oh, well, he has a cute pillowcase to remember the trip by by, but I surely would not have done this if I didn't plan on getting it autographed! Disney is stopping some very kid friendly policies-it looks like they would realize Universal and other theme parks and other cruise lines are giving them very serious competition and try to continue some things that made them special.
