Birthday Celebrations, First Visits and Christmas Time at the Happiest Place on Earth

Well I know it has been a really long since my last post, but life happens. So since my last post and now I have made, tweaked, re-tweaked, moved around, second guessed, rearranged, added, subtracted and secured some great dining reservations. Here is a chart as a reminder of what I was looking to book and what I have booked at this point in time (everything is up for adjustments)!

Re-Cap:
11/29 - I was lucky enough to score a pre-park breakfast at CP this day, which as I have mentioned is my daughter's birthday. As of right now the best I could do was split reservations at BOG, as a back-up I am holding the WCC ressie, but most likely cancelling this for BOG because that is what my daughter really wants.

11/30 - we were ok with no ADRs for our EPCOT day, but when CP narrators were released and it's NPH for this day I quickly grabbed a VN lunch ressie for the 6:45pm show.

12/1 - this is our Hollywood Studios day. With all of the recent closing of attractions we are contemplating only doing a 1/2 day in the park and maybe hitting up some outlets in the morning. Then someone posted on the December Facebook group that ADRs opened for H&V and BAM! I was lucky enough to get a pre-park ressie at 8am to add to the 50's PTC that I already made 180 days out.

12/2 - a full MK day and I got our 2pm at BOG. Not really sure about this though as I'm not thrilled with the lunch menu and don't think my DH will be either. I am holding out for a LTT ressie if and when they open up.

12/3 - MVMCP day, finally secured a 9:25am at 'Ohana (origally had a 10:00am).

12/4 - Again an EPCOT day that originally wan't suppose to have any ADRs. CP narrator for the day is Whoopi who is my dad's favorite actress, again able to secure a 2:00pm ressie at VN for the 6:45pm show. Also got a 2:00pm ressie at BG for the rest of us, may cancel this though.

Well that is our ADRs for now. Since that first week in June until now I have made and cancelled multiple ressies. My family has been spinning and finally given up on following along. They want me to let them know about a week out what my final decision is on everything.

One thing that I find humorous is that my dad said he didn't care and that I could make any ADRs I wanted and he would show up. When I told him about the, now 2, pre-park opening breakfasts he was like "What? You want me up extra early on my vacation?" I reminded him that he left all of the scheduling up to me!

Next few updates I will post some real-life updates along with pics, then what FP+ I am stressing about and my 1st draft schedule for day 1.

Have a magical evening everyone!

We have had a busy summer so far, which actually started in the spring. So while we are in a lull waiting for our 30 days out to make FP+ to come, I figured I could do some real life updates.

As I mentioned when introducing my son, he was born with medical issues that have resulted in multiple doctor and ER visits as well as extended hospital stays. Even though we do have medical insurance, it doesn't cover everything (co-pays, out-of-pocket expenses and of course deductibles) and our bills have been piling up. We are lucky enough that there are several charitable organizations in the area that have asked to help our our family.

The local ELKS lodge offered to help out with their annual Pig Roast and Poker Bike Run fundraiser. On May 17th bikers from around the area signed in at the lodge and received their maps. For the next couple hours they rode around multiple counties collecting playing cards to make the best poker hand. After the ride around noon, everyone in the ride plus family and friends were invited to the lodge for a Pig Roast. There was lots of food (including an actual Pig that was roasted over an open flame), fun for kids (bouncy house, spin art, face painting, etc.) a live band and DJ, silent auction and more. It was a great day and a lot of people came out to support this amazing organization.

Here are some pictures from the day:

The following weekend we celebrated Memorial Day, DD8, DS1 and I marched in the town parade with the Girl Scouts while DH marched with the soccer team. Before the parade we went to one of the fire houses in town as they hold a memorial service for the men and woman of the company that have passed. My grandparents are honored at this ceremony for being a past fire chief and president & treasurer of the auxiliary. Following the parade we had family and friends back to our house for a picnic.

On June 4th we decided that we needed a day at the beach, unfortunately Mother Nature did not think it was a good idea. We packed up the cars, loaded up the kids and headed down anyway. Even though my DS1 was technically at the beach last August when we visited the Outer Banks, he does not remember it, so this was his first experience with sand. He did pretty well considering he does not like to be dirty or to get anything on his hands!

After setting up and being there for only a short while the wind picked up, temperature dropped and eventually it started to rain. We finished our lunch then quickly packed up and headed back home.

Huddled in the tent to get out of the wind and cold.

Summer fun - - my sister bought this water play area for my DS1 to play in while the big kids are in the pool!

We then celebrated the 4th with another picnic at my house. Lots of family, food and fireworks! My niece and I ended up with the same shirts on!

Twinning!

That weekend, friends invited us to tag along to a local amusement park - Diggerland! We left DS1 home with my sister and took my niece with us for a very enjoyable day playing on construction equipment!

Trip News:
120 days until vacation! :yay::yay:
90 days until FP+ reservations >:(>:(

Another RLU:

On July 11th, one of the other charitable organizations in our area held their annual softball tournament. We are lucky enough to have some friends that offered to put a team together again this year and play for my son. These amazing women played for him in 2014 as well. They not only give up their Saturday, but they play 4 straight games in the brutal hot sun, heat and humidity! These women are simply wonderful and we can not thank them enough! Again this year they were undefeated and won their division for the 2nd time.

Last weekend my sister, myself and our best friend took our daughters to a Florida Georgia Line concert. We had a great time, it wasn't too hot and the crowd wasn't too rowdy!

We had lawn seats, so we were waiting for the majority of the crowd to clear out before we exited so we didn't get separated in the confusion. You can see what slobs people are!

So I think that brings up pretty up to date with recent real life activities. Tomorrow we will be camping overnight at one of our state beaches to see the Blue Full Moon. This is the first time we are attending this event so we will see how it goes.

I have 2 more posts ready to go:
1. The step-daughter dilemma
2. Tentative Touring Plans for day 1 in the parks

Well I guess I sort of fibbed a bit, before I get to the a fore mentioned updates I am going to do another Real Life Update!

This past weekend my family, my sister & her girls, along with 2 other families went down to Seaside Heights to camp overnight on the beach under the Full Moon! It was a first for all of us and we had a great time. We were allowed to start setting up our campsites at 8pm, once that was done all the grown-ups wanted to relax with a cold beverage. Of course all the kids wanted to do was head to the boardwalk for rides and games. We were able to hold them off for a bit but eventually did head up.

Back to our sites just before midnight and I thought we were done for the night. Nope the kids were not tired at all. Well, except for my DS, he was over tired and fighting sleep but I finally won. My DD and nieces decided around 1:30am that it was a good time to go out and play in the sand. Yep it was a long night, I don't think the girls fell asleep until after 3am then were back up just after 6am.

We had to have our campsites broken down and cleaned-up by 10am. Once that was done, we set up ourselves for a day at the beach. OMG was it hot and humid. One of the other families stayed for a while as well, but headed out around noon as it was just too hot. DH, DD, DS and myself packed up our beach stuff around the same time, but headed up to the boardwalk in search of lunch and some air conditioning. Of course my DD convinced DH to ride more rides and play more games, we were finally ready for our 1.5 hr drive home around 1:30pm. DD passed out before we even hit the bridge to get off the island, no more than 5 minutes in the car. My sister and her girls spent the entire day at the beach and didn't head home until after 5pm.

Here are some pictures from our adventure:

Because I feared of reaching my photo limited, I'll post this in a new thread.

Since we were camping on Friday night, we missed the premiere of the Disney Channel movie The Descendants. We decided to do a family movie night on Sunday so everyone could see the movie. Nothing special for dinner - London Broil & Chicken on the grill with pasta salad.

Dessert was customized to the movie though!

Evie's Apple Dippers

Mal's Love Spell Cookies

Cruella DeVil Cupcakes

In the goodie bags were Descendant bracelets, poster, hair extensions and a grey t-shirt. Each girl got to pick with Descendant iron-on decals they wanted. Overall it was a good night.

I am self diagnosis with CDO, which is OCD but in order.

haha I had never heard that one. It definitely describes a lot of us on these boards.

I really like the rental, cute kids rooms. Being from Columbus, I'm not a big fan of the NJ Devils sweaters :crazy2:, but I'll let it slide. A hockey fan is still better than any other sports fans.

Now I want cupcakes!

They were yummy! I got the recipe off of Pinterest. The base of the cupcake was actually a brownie, to stick with the whole black & white Cruella DeVil theme.

Thanks for stopping in! Yeah, I guess a lot of us on here are CDO!

All I can say being a Devils fan is better than being a Rangers fan any day!

Hello there! Now back to the first update that I promised soooo long ago :worried::worried::worried:

The Step-Daughter Dilemma!

My DH was married once before, and no I was not the cause for their divorce. Anyway, he has a daughter from that marriage, Brittany, who is currently 15 years old. Brittany lives with her mother in Kentucky for almost 10 years now. Because of the distance (a 12 hour drive and no direct flights) we only get to see her about 3 times a year - her spring break, a week in the summer and Christmas time.

When we were planning our previous trips we always asked the ex-wife if she would allow us to take Brittany along. There was always an excuse as why she couldn't go -- April 2007: couldn't miss a week of school, July 2011: since DH wasn't going, Brittany wasn't allowed to go with just me and then in November 2012: again wasn't allowed to miss a week of school.

Well this time around we figured why not ask again. Since she is in KY they start school early (August 5th) and their district calendar was published early. So when she was home for spring break we asked her if she would like to join us. Of course Brittany's answer was a resounding YES! Now to convince the ex. According to the school calendar, they are closed for Thanksgiving Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. We proposed that they drive home on Wednesday, spend Thanksgiving with the ex's family (who btw all live either in our town or the next one over) and then on Friday we would take Brittany with us to Florida for the week. The ex-wife doesn't work anymore due to health issues, so we figured she could just stay with her parents for the week.

To our surprise the ex announces that her, her parents and her brother were actually planning on taking Brittany and the niece to Disney this year as well, only in the beginning of November. Which of course means she would not be able to miss 2 weeks of school and therefore can not go with us. Sure whatever:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

We let it go for the time being. When Brittany came home for our week at the end of June I asked about her Disney trip. She knew they were suppose to be going, but had no idea the dates, the resort, ADRs or anything. She actually wasn't sure if anything had even been booked yet. :confused3:confused3:confused3:confused3

Being the CDO planner that I am, I found this extremely strange. When the ex was questioned about it we were told that the aunt's friend is a TA and was arranging everything but they didn't know the details of anything! Seriously WHAT? But my DH urged me not to push so I dropped it for the time being.

Brittany and the ex were back home to visit her side at the end of July and we were allowed a couple of days. Again I asked about specifics, and again no idea or if plans were made.

I seriously do not think their trip is happening at all and it is just a ruse so they ex has an excuse not to let her go with us. I think it is rotten, as Brittany is now thinking that she is getting a trip at the beginning of November and knows we are going at the end of the month.

So my dilemma is, do I rearrange my itinerary and meals to accommodate another person? Or just "Let It Go" and let DH deal with his ex if she is lying.

There isn't much of a cost increase if Brittany goes with us. We are driving so no flight increase. Staying off-property and house is big enough with 6 bedrooms. We would have to pay for her park ticket of course and then all of her meals. Right now I have all of our reservations for 10 people and I am sure it will be difficult to add 1 more to be 11.

I just want to get it handled before it gets too close to the trip and really impossible to move things around.

So there you have it. Thanks for letting me vent....here are some pictures of Brittany!

One of the many long trips back and forth to KY

My sister's 3 girls along with our 3 waiting for our table to be called at Olive Garden (don't hate):rotfl2:

Baby Mama drama is the worst. :sad2: I'm so sorry she's using her child like this. I sincerely hope that either they really DO have a trip planned, or that Brittany gets to go with ya'll. It would really be awful if she ends up not being able to go at all. Go with your gut, girl. If you feel like it's worth it to go ahead and rearrange, go for it. Or is there a way maybe you could rearrange in a way that you wouldn't have to cancel what you have already booked? That way you could sort of have a "Plan A" and a "Plan B" and as things develop, you can choose which one to get rid of?

waiting for our table to be called at Olive Garden (don't hate):rotfl2:
Man, I must not be very classy or something, because I see Olive Garden hate ALL the time too, and I just don't get it. :confused3 OG is good stuff, man!

I have been dreading making FP+, we are such a diverse group that it will be difficult.
I'm having a similar problem with my upcoming trip for just thre 3 of us, since we've got one thrill ride person, one severe motion sickness person, and one that is happy to do whatever or sit whatever out. That's why I did my first ever loose "touring plan" to try to get a grip on the best way to do it and what to get FP+ for! ::yes::

Now for an actual trip update (after all it is a TR :laughing::laughing:)

107 days until our Trip! :Pinkbounc:Pinkbounc:Pinkbounc

77 days until FP+:sad2::sad2::sad2:

I have been dreading making FP+, we are such a diverse group that it will be difficult. I am trying to convince my sister to make the reservations for her and her daughters, mom for mom and dad and I'll do ours. But being the crazed planner I also don't want to relinquish control in case they make them for times that conflict with reservations already scheduled. Just need to breathe!

So far I have the following touring plan outlined for our first park day - Sunday, November 29th - Magic Kingdom:

7:00am - Everyone needs to be up and out the door.

(Since we are staying off-property I am giving us an hour to get to the parks, I hope this enough time)

8:00am - Pre-park opening reservations at Crystal Palace

9:00am - Reservations for the 4 girls at Pirate's League

(Is 45 minutes - 1 hour enough time for breakfast and get to Pirate's League?)

10:15am - Captain Jack Sparrow's Pirate Tutorial
(Anyone know how long Pirate League takes? Will the 4 girls be done in time? Also, are there Photopass Photographers in there? )

If there is time, and depending on stand-by times, maybe a quick ride on POTC.

11:00am - DS's first hair cut at Harmony Barbershop
(This will probably only be DH, DD, DS and myself. Maybe my parent's. Sister & girls will probably go off to do more rides)

After this we are pretty open. I would like to head over to the firehouse to pick up our Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom Cards. We started this on our Nov 2012 trip and DD really liked it. I may try for a FP+ to meet Mickey at this point. (Is a FP+ necessary?)

We will probably grab a bite to eat somewhere (Dole whips count as lunch right?) and then head back to Fantasyland. It is after all my DD's actually birthday and I am sure she would love to spend the entire afternoon riding Dumbo! Hoping to convince her to do other rides as well - IASW, PP, 7DMT, WTP, PCRC, Barnstormer, Little Mermaid & Enchanted Tales. (Which ones should I FP+? 7DMT and probably PP, right?)

Then we have 5:35pm & 5:45pm reservations at BOG for DD's birthday dinner. After dinner we will head out of the park as it is a party night but not ours.

So that is my loose plans for just my family. Of course if I let my DH know this we will freak out....a vacation is not planned out according to him. I think this may be the only day that I will probably schedule. Who am I kidding?????

I've dealt with baby momma drama before, but we've gotten older and finally got over it and are almost friends again.

That being said, I would probably call her out on that trip being a fake and ask why she's going to deny her daughter such a fun time. Sounds to me like she has almost no reason to say no. So frustrating when people wouldn't put aside their differences for what the child wants.

I'd probably add her to my ADR's if possible, just in case. If you show up one person short I'm sure it wouldn't be a big deal.

I am going to go back through our reservations and make sure I have everything I want when we like them. I also have to go through and drop a couple reservations (no idea where I got the idea to make more than I actual need and horde reservations from - - - - :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1) Then I will get on the phone with Disney directly and hopefully get a friendly and helpful CM who will be able to add an extra person to our ressies. I know it is ok to show up with less people but not with more. Also going to have DH try and talk to the ex one more time to see if he can get actual plans out of her.

I hear you about Olive Garden, did you know you can now buy the dressing at super markets? I almost died when I saw it on the shelf!

Not only do we have different perspectives on the rides we like to do, my DH doesn't want the day planned out for him. He likes to pretend he is a go with the flow kind of person, but will get cranky if we wander around aimlessly with no exact destination. So I guess he wants his cake and eat it too....I just want a Dole Whip!

I am glad that you have been able to work through the baby drama. For some reason she just keeps it going, I mean my DH and I have now been together for 13 years and she still likes to pull this crap.

Yes, I am going to have DH call her again to get her to lay out their exact plans and if she still is saying there aren't any then I will add 1 more to all of our ADRs.

Wow my 1st trip is coming up! I need your planning skills.

Congratulations on your 1st trip! It can be over whelming but so much fun all at the same time. If you have any questions feel free to ask! I learned from research, research, research and the many wonderfully friendly and helpful people here on the DisBoards! You will have a great time!

Trip Update.........

99 days until our trip!!!!
Which means we are officially in the double digits........
Which calls for a double digit dance (or three!)

And on a side note....69 days until we can make our FP+ reservations.

There isn't much planning I can do right now, just playing the waiting game. I'm still checking ADRs everyday in case I can tweak them a bit. But I do have to go through with the family and decide if there are any we would like to drop at this point. There are probably a couple.

In the meantime....the next post will be this past weekend's events. We got to keep ourselves busy somehow!

So happy to be joining in on the fun!

Looks like you have goo ADRs, and a nice group going, hope you'll update as you book your FP's!
