World of color viewing from GCH

Has anyone watch WOC from the Grand Californian viewing area lately? We plan to do this our first night, since we will be arriving early evening and don't want to waste a park ticket for a few hours.

How was the view?

We're arriving at about 6:45pm and want to do the same thing. It's been awhile since the budget allowed staying at GCH. Good question!
I'll be interested in what others have to say.

We've watched WOC from the GCH outdoor viewing area. The pros are that you can go watch in your jammies with a cocktail or hot cocoa. :) The cons are that while you can see the water projections, you just don't get the full immersed show experience. Plus it can get crowded out there. I don't recommend it for replacing a true viewing of the show, but it is a great option for getting a preview on the first night of your visit when not in the parks.

You are looking down and at an angle at the show . Not as nice as being on the pier , but at least you don`t have heads in your way. There is a nice clean restroom there on the Terrace

We use the GCH WOC viewing patio as a place to take a glass of wine and let the kids (who've seen it a million times so don't feel like they're missing out) watch. You can't see the total show and if it's slightly windy the projections are REALLY hard to see. That said, I haven't seen the new version.

I wouldn't recommend telling your kids "We're going to see WOC on the patio!" because they may be dissapointed. And as the PP said, it CAN get crowded. If you go watch with a "At least we don't have to use a whole day park ticket just to see the show" attitude then you'll enjoy it :o

I think this will work for us. We have seen the old WOC a couple times over our many trips. My guys just really don't have enough interest in it to see it every time we go. I'm usually the one who wants to watch. I think this will be a good compromise for our family. I don't have to be front and center.

And I like the idea of watching it with a glass of wine. GCH is the starting point of the second half of our california trip. So this will be a relaxing way to hang out on our arrival night.

Where is this and how do you get there?

It`s on the 6th floor of the SouthWest part of the GCH. Heres a floorplan. It is on the bottom of the floorplan. And some pictures of the Terrace and view including what World of Color looks like from the Terrace.83ab917c.jpg o.jpg photobucket-3950-1330476650173.jpg fixedw_large_4x.jpg
