Just got home…...is BLT normally this way?

We just returned from 11 days at WDW (5 in the Poly studio and 6 in the BLT studio). When we checked into BLT, we were missing a laundry basket, hair dryer, and washcloths in the room. I called and got all of the items taken care of minus the hair dryer which I told them we were missing but had brought our own so didn't have to have one. They didn't offer to bring one and I didn't worry about it …. just wanted them to know we didn't have one to start with so we didn't get charged for it going missing. I checked in the bathroom under the sink, the kitchenette cabinetry, and in the closet…..not one in the room. The safe wouldn't lock so I had to call them to reset it. The solution from the front desk was to bring our things down when we left and they had lockers. I was then to retrieve them when we returned and do that all over the next day. When I pushed and said I felt that was a bit ridiculous, they finally said they would send someone up to reset the safe lock but it would be a while and we had to be in the room when they came. We were there 2 days before we realized the refrigerator wasn't turned on. Thankfully we didn't have anything that absolutely needed the refrigeration (a few drinks and fruit) so that wasn't a big deal. The wifi wasn't working in our room either. They said it was trying to connect to an invalid router. That took 3 days for them to finally get that taken care of (they kept telling me to give it more time and call back if it wasn't working) and then we had very spotty service which they said was because the bandwidth isn't large enough for BLT. On T&T day, they failed to leave washcloths again and the tissues were out so I called and they sent me bath towels and toilet paper instead. Eventually we got it all taken care of and we really enjoyed our WDW trip but the BLT part was a bit frustrating and I have to say it will be a while before I opt for that resort. I know it can happen anywhere and the resort itself is very nice (location can't be beat!) but it just seemed like it was something time after time.

Studios don't have laundry baskets so that's not odd. The only one I've seen any is at PVB and maybe Aulani.

Otherwise we have not had missing items at BLT although have at a couple other places - kitchen items since we usually stay 1BR's. You mentioned the front desks solution for the safe. If you called the front desk from your room you were talking to an offsite call center and they really are not the best for solutions nor always for passing along the info from the stories repeatedly told. If you are missing things or they need to be fixed you should call either housekeeping or maintenance. That can make a huge difference in getting assistance.

Actually, I just remembered that in Nov the TV remote control needed new batteries in our BLT studio. I called maintenance and we had 2 sets of batteries waiting for us when we returned from the parks a couple hours later.

We still had a great time. I was just surprised at all the issues. And please know I understand they're minor issues but a few more than I'd expect. When I asked if we were supposed to have a laundry basket, they told us yes it was on the shelf in the closet but it wasn't there. That call was to housekeeping.

The safe call was to the desk so that makes sense that it could be offsite. They really need to train a bit better if that's the case though.

I certainly think that everything should be there - no question about it. Just answering that it hasn't been normal for us there.

The laundry basket though - I don't think so for studios but they might not have been paying close attention to the room category. I certainly wish all studios had laundry baskets and I'd guess that you can get them if requested.

We have stayed in 1 beds twice for 2 weeks and really no issues. Last trip, our entry door acted a bit funny, but our DS says the doors now have batteries inside locks to allow the swipe of MBs to work, and we wondered if batteries were acting up. But we were able to get past that and no other issues. Give it time to allow the memories to fade, but give it a try again in the future. We had issues at OKW our 1st time there, swore to never return, but since then, been back several times and fell in love with the place

Sadly that sounds like our first trip. We've always had more issues at BLT than any other resort. Btw it's not unusual for the frig to be off esp if the guest before you turns it off and housekeeping turns it off too. We are heading back next month after a 2 year break from BLT. Our last stay we found the cast members at the BLT desk to be very unfriendly and rude. The dvc rep would be the only person that would speak to us when we came and left daily.

We have stayed at BLT multiple times. I think the wi-fi availability is dependent on where your villa is located in the building. On our last stay, we were the very last villa on the 16th floor. There was ZERO wi-fi available - nothing would connect - no devices even found any Disney networks available.

When I went to the front desk the next morning, the CM suggested we just come down to the lobby if we needed to use our devices. After telling her that would not work for my party of 7, I politely told her that BLT advertises free wi-fi and we had to have it in our villa. They eventually added an additional router and we had wi-fi, although not a very strong signal.

I'm really sorry to hear about the poor experiences at BLT. I can understand the frustration with service issues and poor response times! That is our home resort and we've never had issues there that I would consider outside the norm. We always stay in a 2 bdrm but it sounds like room size was irrelevant to the OPs issues.

I admit though that, IMO, BLT doesn't have the same friendly vibe that some other resorts have - no one has ever been rude, but there are fewer smiles to be found! I really believe something about the more stark style of the property gives it a less Disney-like feel. The location is fabulous and that makes it worth it to me, but I do wish BLT felt a bit more homey!

I talked to the IT dept 3 times while there regarding the wifi and he said that the bandwidth just isn't enough for the resort. All the items were taken care of except that since it's not an easy fix. I do think, though, that the wifi was the most frustrating. For a company moving to doing so much on an app or online, the ability to make the reservations or changes should be readily available. It didn't matter what time of day, the wifi in the room was horrible. I even woke one night at 3 a.m. and decided to try to change our FP+ and got the proverbial "the signal isn't strong enough to connect" message. In the parks, the wifi works great but the resorts are spotty at best. We did have wifi issues at Poly too but not as bad.

t don't dislike the resort at all and we really enjoyed our stay. It was our 2nd time staying there although the first was several years ago. I just found it odd to have what seemed to us so many issues. And again, not major issues, just several of them.

I'm actually glad to hear so many haven't had issues. I was a bit concerned that the service was going down and we were experiencing more the norm.

Your issues sounds like issues that we have had a most of the DVC resorts on occasion and that is why I tend to post about the negative housekeeping issues. It shouldn't happen but it does, all to often. Mousekeeping turns off the refrigerators so everyone needs to check as soon as they get into the room.

Talking to the front desk in person about issues and letting member satisfaction, dvcmembersatisfactionteam@disneyvacationclub.com know about them is all that you can do.

Yikes, the wifi issues make me nervous for when we go in Nov. Wifi is a requirement for us and I assumed all resorts had it (you know, because they say they have free wifi).

They do have it….it just doesn't work well. We ended up having to use our data on our cell service to connect when it was necessary.

We find the Wi-Fi to be slower that the old hard wired connection but today each family is using multiple connections and streaming video which really slows things down to snail speed.

I was really surprised about the safe not being fixed immediately as maintenance came within minutes to fix our once at BLT when the period guest had locked it while it was open. But I did call maintenance and asked for them to fix it.

Other posts are correct that only PVB have laundry baskets in a studio and Aulani's studios do not have them either. We always bring a larger laundry bag that can be washed on our trips for this purpose.

The only problems I've had at BLT is the WiFi. It either doesn't connect at all or it's so slow as to be useless. Going to the lobby is ridiculous and not an option for most people. We were just at PVB and WiFi was perfect. We were the first guests in our room at Tokelau. That was special.
