The Everything Pooh Sized Thread

I would love to try the design a tee for a tee and a sweatshirt. I read somewhere that this store had larger sizes. Can someone who got merchandise there share their experience? Did you bring your own shirt or was there a good selection already there? Is there anywhere I can view the selection online? thanks.

My daughter did this in Downtown disney last year and she was really happy with the selection and her shirt. It can take some time to be ready to pick up so you'll want to do this first (and it's right near the entrance from the bus/boat), then stop to pick it up on your way out. I'm not sure how large the sizes go but downtown customer service is a quick phone call away to find out.

I had a positive experience at Design a Tee, the kiosks were easy to understand and use. The CMs were helpful too and they also showed us to the rack with the different size shirts. So maybe someone going in the future might check for you. I didn't check the plus sizes because i bought a shirt for my dad who isn't pooh sized.

Can anyone recommend hiking boots for pooh size person ? I know that this thread is a wealth of information for all types of questions so I thought I would ask about hiking boots. My best friend and I are trying to lose some weight and walking more but good tennis shoes aren't cutting it on trail type walking that we have started doing in addition to regular walking. We need something lightweight, supportive, comfortable for walking the railtrails we find in various areas.

I have a pair of Merrel hiking boots I picked up at Gander Mountain. I bought them as work boots, but my feet LOVE them. I can't remember the style name, but definitely one of the best pair I've owned.

Thanks I know Merrell has great sandals but didn't know they had boots, I will take a Gander at them pun intended :)

Keen's are working well for me. But truly the best advice I could give is to go to a REAL shoe store. Forget about Payless Shoesource and anything you see at WalMart or Target. Find your local store that carries all of the higher-end brands like Merrell, Keen, Ecco, Birkenstock. Very often they can recommend a specific brand that will work well for your feet.

No worries there, I learned many, many years ago that good shoes are a lifesaver for me - I walk 12 hours a day on what is basically a concrete floor in an ER. I have a fortune tied up in New Balance, Easy Spirit, Reebok shoes just for work - I put new ones into service about every 3 months just for work and rotate the older ones to walking shoes then day off shoes etc but never wear a pair more than a year total! I have spent several hours online tonight to do research on Keens and Merrells - trouble is they are hard to find in an actual store for me to try on and decide which brand and which version but I learned long ago there are many ways to skin a cat and I will find just the right kind for the two of us, the nice thing is we both wear the same size and are the same weight so when I find the ones that work best for me (hard to find shoes due to diabetic foot changes/neuropathy) they will be perfect for her, then I just have her try mine on to be sure before I wear them more than a few times and I go back and get more or order more online :) The staff at the local Reebok Outlet just shake their heads when I walk up to the counter with 4-6 prs of the same shoe to buy :)

Hi, all my fellow Pooh-sizers! My darling husband has just suprised me with a December trip to WDW - our first trip to Disney! *squee* *bounce* (Sorry.) However, I have lots of questions and even though I've read the entire contents of the board, they still persist, so I leave them here for anyone to answer. Thank you in advance!

1. Best type of walking shoe for those on a budget? I don't have any foot problems except my weight pressing on them (which is rather substantial, to be sure).

2. Best place to rent a scooter from? We will need two, preferably portable as we are bringing our own car on the trip.

3. Sunscreen that doesn't block the pores? My husband has fibro and gets twitchy with most other sunscreens, but living here in the South you gotta have it. Right now we use an off-brand spray, but he can also shower after a few hours if it bothers him at home.

4. Is it possible to slow down/stop certain rides so that we can get in? He has a cane/scooter combo and I am just very clumsy due to poor balance, so I am worried about things like Haunted Mansion and Buzz Lightyear (both of which we'd like to ride).

5. Are the safaris worth it? I've heard the vehicle is hard to get into.

Thanks, guys!

Congratulations! :cutie: I'll try to help as much as I can...

I'm a big fan of my Crocs still, nothing makes the soles of my feet as happy as they do. I prefer a sandal style, Cleo. It's usually warm enough in Florida even in December for them.

I've used Buena Vista on my past trips, but had problems with their equipment being old and shabby and unreliable. Also, their scooter model for pooh-sized folks doesn't break down for transport. On my upcoming December trip, I am trying Walker Mobility for the first time. They assure me that ALL of their scooters, even the heavy duty models (for larger folks) will easily break down into 5 pieces and can be stored in the trunk of a midsize car. (I use the Disney buses around property, but we are spending a day over at Universal on this trip and I need to take it with me.)

I have Lupus and Fibromyalgia, and have to be extremely careful with how much sun exposure I get. I have had very good results with Neutrogena's "Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunscreen Broad Spectrum" in a SPF 100+. I use it all over, even on my face, and haven't had any reactions or clogged pores.

I know I've heard of this being possible. I don't have first-hand experience with it, though. You may want to ask over on the DISabilities forum, I'm sure some folks over there would be able to tell you more.

I love Kilimanjaro Safari! I've never had any trouble getting in and out of the ride vehicle at all.

Hope that helps! :)

Perfect! I already own Crocs..but I don't wear socks with them and when my feet sweat they slide SO badly, I was scared to take them to Disney. I will check out the other models, maybe its time to switch it up - I have the clog style with the strap back.

That's what I had found too, I am glad that you recommended Walker - the first three I tried don't break down in their larger models. And we have a Honda CRV with lots of room in the back, so we can definitely fit two. Phew!

Sweet, thank you - my DH says so too, we don't know anyone with fibro and its been very hard for him since his diagnosis.

I am very glad to hear that abou the safari, DH was looking forward to it as staying in AKL is very expensive (putting it mildly, lol) and this way we get to see the animals. You are amazing, thank you!

Yep, that's exactly why I prefer the Cleo style. All the comfort of a Crocs sole, but fits like a regular sandal! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure about Buzz, but I know that they will stop the ride on HM if a guest can't easily transfer. I went with a friend of mine who has cerebral palsy and she needed them to completely stop it, since she needs a few minutes to make the switch. It wasn't a problem. Just let them know.

Ugh, I forgot to ask about glasses. What do ya'll do with them on the rides? Worried ours will fall off, lol. Comtac5s don't really work in our family, unfortunately.

Thank you for the info on Buzz, I know the DH is really looking forward to shooting things since he can't be a Jedi, lol.

I can't wear contacts either. I wear my glasses on most rides. If it's one I'm worried about them falling off on, like Rock n Rollercoaster, I just take them off and stuff them in my bag, and deal with it being a bit blurry. Although I am considering maybe breaking down finally, and getting one of those straps to secure them to my head so that I don't need to take them off!

I have a couple of questions about fitting on rides at Universal. I've read a bunch about HP and the FJ, Gringotts, etc., but I was wondering if anyone who is plus sized (I'm about 285, size 26/28) has ridden Flight of the Hippogryph? I think I could convince my son that we should ride it (he's not one for thrill rides anyway, and I'm not sure I'll fit on either FJ or Gringotts anyway)....but I was concerned about sizing. From what I can tell, it has a simple lap bar that comes down. Normally that isn't a problem for me. However, where the bar will stop on me will be pretty far away from my 80 lb 9 year old. Will this be a problem?

I usually take an old pair that maybe dony have my up to date prescription and switch them just before rides like RnR. That way i still get to see (mostly) and im not going to lose my all important regular glasses (i have very poor sight though).
