What is there to do at Disney for young adults? I know they closed down Pleasure island but is there anything similar to that? We are staying at contempary

Hi there! My fiance and I are both 20 somethings and we are planning on spending some time on the Boardwalk for nightlife. They have a piano bar and a dance hall. We are also planning on spending some time eating/drinking around World Showcase. I would love to hear ideas from other!

The Boardwalk is great. The dance hall can be hit or miss depending on the night, and the ambiance of the whole area is awesome just to walk around for a couple of hours.
There's also Downtown Disney as long as you don't mind crowds. The West Side is more outdoor shopping center than it is Disney.

I also love exploring the resorts. Since you are at the Contemporary you can easily hop on the monorail and check out the Grand Floridian (also a spa!) and the Poly.

My fiance and I are mid-20s and enjoy most places (ESPN, Big River, Jellyrolls) on the Boardwalk. This upcoming trip, we're going to try the monorail pub crawl, and we're going to spend our first travel day exploring different places in DTD, specifically the new Indiana Jones themed bar that will hopefully be open by the time we're there.

These replies are giving me some great ideas for my fiance' and I's trip to the World this September!

If you go to Disneyland (AP here!) our Downtown Disney is much smaller, but cute for dates or just hanging out with
friends! They have an outdoor bar in the middle of everything and the music. They also have a house of blues with a crossroads attached! I love that jalapeno corn bread, haha!

As for the parks themselves, Disneyland and California Adventure have some amazing upscale restraunts (moreso, Cal Adventure) but the Blue Bayou is great for a splurge at DL.

Hope this gives you some ideas if you come to the Land (I'm sure some of these are similar to the World as well)

These sound like great ideas, but a lot of them seem to be outside of the parks themselves. Any suggestions on things for my husband and I (both 20-somethings) to do within the parks, as we are already paying so much to go there in the first place?

It can be fun to dress up and go to the Brown Derby in Hollywood Studios, or exploring World Showcase in Epcot as it is much more adult than anywhere else.

Honestly the parks themselves are family oriented and are set to appeal to a wide range of ages, so there's not much you couldn't do. But if you are looking specifically for that young-adult orientation, you will generally have to leave the parks. The Grand Floridian (on the monorail line) is a working spa and has several nicer restaurants. O'hana at the Poly (also on the monorail line) for dinner is a good experience as well.

Yes, you are paying to go to the parks, but it isn't a bad idea to build in a non-park day or two if you can where you allow yourself time to explore the rest of Disney property. The parks only make up a small part of the 27,000 acres and the resorts have a lot to offer

Thanks for the advice! We will try to squeeze in some out-of-park activities during our trip.

Never really found DTD as exciting since they closed PI. We prefer Citywalk. BUT, here are some suggestions: We always found San Angel Inn in Mexico at EPCOT romantic. Stop and have a drink at La Cava del Tequila inside before your dinner. Dinner at Morocco with the belly dancer show is also a favorite. Then there is dinner at France or Canada too. We love shopping at Japan - especially getting odd snacks like freeze dried fiddler crabs in a bag. Great fun to put out on the snack counter at work. And you can try different Sake's at the bar there inside the store. Then head back to the entrance and ride Spaceship Earth before getting on the monorail - switching to the resort line at the TTC, and heading to the Poly to have a drink and/or walk around the grounds. The Contemporary has a nice bar too. Otherwise, our other favorite bar is at the AKL.

Inside the parks, or even at most of the resorts, there just is not a lot for young adults. You will have to venture out to DTD for a little more action.
