Need help with unique booking situation

So, we currently have a reservation in a 1 bedroom at AKL sept 19-27th. We are meeting my adult son and his family there. Were flying in from Ohio they are driving in from GA. I also made a 1 night reservation at the Poly for just my husband and I on Sept 23rd. We were just planning on heading over there in the afternoon using the pool and spending the night there, for a couple of reasons, I have always wanted to stay at the Polynesian but being DVC it just never was convenient for us and we wanted to get away for the night alone.... So the problem is that member services said I can not have 2 separate reservations in my name for the same evening or 1 might get cancelled. So this is what was offered.
Solution 1 from her was to take my husband off the Akl reservation and just have him on the one night at the poly. Problem with that is that we need ME and he wouldn't be able to get it with him not being on the reservation.
Solution 2 was to make 4 separate reservations with all of us at AKL for the first 4 nights, just the kids at Akl on the 23rd, us at poly the 23rd, then all of us the 23rd thru the 27th at Akl. Which is a definite no, because "we could have to switch rooms at akl 3 times", and with them having a 1 year old that naps in the afternoon we don't want to take a chance on not having a room in the afternoon, and that would just be horrible!
Solution 3 (which is what we did) was to put only my son on the poly reservation. But now that Im getting ready to make fastpass selections I realized that we can not make them for him because hes not currently on the reservation that starts on the 19th.
Has anyone else ever had a situation like this? It got me thinking why couldn't I just put a different name on the Poly reservation ( I would use another adult family member who is not coming) and do on line check in and go direct to the room, or if I put the reservation under a different name at the poly we could check in at AKL then the night before change the name on the reservation to me. What do you think? Thanks!

OP, if you or DH are using a first name on the 23rd at AKL, use a middle name on the reservation at PVB, or visa-versa.

Just book everyone in AKL and yourself at Poly. The reservation won't be cancelled. But you might have some trouble using your magic band to open the door to your Poly room. Have them give you a key card for the one night Poly stay.

Ok, Ill try the middle name thing. Hopefully they will let me change it to that when I call! Wont I get a separate magic band for the poly reservation anyway and use that to for the door there?

Just book online and you won't have an issue. I wouldn't order MB's for the Polly, just ask for a room key when you check in.

Magic bands are linked to you, not to a specific room or ticket. By using your middle name, you're creating a new "person" with nothing else linked (as long as you don't link it to your MDE account and match up the names).

Will I still be able to check in if I use my middle name and the name on my drivers license is my first name? And I already made all the reservations, can I change the name online or will I have to call MS? Thanks so much!

Like you said, it's a unique, and thus complicated, situation. These are the options I'd consider:
1. Put your real name on both reservations and link them up like normal. Reports show that you'll have trouble getting into your room, so ask for a separate card key
2. Put different names (or maybe even you own name) on the second reservation. Don't link it to anything! Don't bother customizing magic bands, either. You'll get new bands at the Poly which will work to open your room and nothing else. Basically, in this option, you don't want them to match you to your MDE account.

As long as you are not the lead person on both rooms, you're safe.
