Over 60 Trips to Disney from San Antonio, Tx!

I literally just redid our whole vacation stay which begins Wednesday the 8th.

We were going to stay offsite but decided to stay at POFQ.

3 of these days will be spent at Universal because we need to take it slow as I am still recovering from surgery and my DD12 loves the Minions and Harry Potter.

Originally we had a car rented for $200 from Avis at MCO for 8 days.

Should I keep the Avis rental or is it cheaper to use DME to and from POFQ from MCO and take a shuttle/taxi to US/IoA for these 3 days (2 trips per day/to and from)?

With that much traveling to/from Universal and still recovering from surgery - I would rather have a car at my disposal because I could leave when I wanted and not have to wait for a pickup. And I think 6 trips in a taxi would add up pretty quickly.

Looking at Dollar car rental - I think you can get a car much cheaper than the rate you have at Avis - a full-size car for 8 days starting on July 8 comes up as a city special rate of $120, smaller cars are even cheaper (these rates are before taxes, facility fees, etc)

The rental car also gives you the option of driving to/from the Disney parks instead of relying on the Disney bus system.

Thanks!! I will check out Dollar.
A small car is all that is needed. 2 adults and DD11

Found a cheaper rental. Thanks.

Keep looking for car rental rates. If you find a cheaper price, book it and then cancel the more expensive rate. The nice thing about car rental is that, unlike hotels, there is no cancellation deadline (or penalty paid). Go to carrentalsavers.com and see what prices they come up with... and then continue to check. You'd be surprised how quickly car rental rates increase and decrease!

I would definitely go the rental car route. We've always had a rental car on our trips even though we've only stayed on property. It's just nice to know that you have your transportation right there and ready to go when you want it.
