Accommodation ideas for 2 families

My family is joining up with another for spring break 2016. We haven't decided on a location yet, but Orlando is in contender.

I am looking for accommodation recommendations for 2 families. What are your thoughts on sharing a large townhouse with the other family? Or should be book 2 separate rooms at a hotel? They are close family members and the kids all get along great.

Most poolhouse (Indian Creek, for example) are designed for multiple families with multiple 'suites'. They will have, for example, two bedrooms with a bathroom between that is off toward the front if the house while the other bedrooms are near the back of the house.

Do you want a resort or a neighborhood? That will help narrow suggestions.

I think a large home, not necessarily a townhouse, would be great. We rent a 5 bedroom home with a pool/spa and have shared it with extended family for the last 10 years. In my opinion, the key to traveling and staying with multiple families is to make sure every adult couple has their own bedroom and bathroom. All kids should get to sleep in a bed, not a pull out couch in a shared space. My kids LOVE this kind of vacation where they have their own TV in the bedroom, their own space to retreat to, and a pool and game room at their disposal. I love having my own room and bathroom, having a large kitchen, washer and dryer... Just to give you an idea of what is out there, here is the house we have stayed in the last several years: http://www.vrbo.com/46990
I highly recommend renting a villa.

We love Orange Lake in Kissimme. We have lots of family and we book through an owner. We can pick our rooms because of his membership status. We get 2 BDRMs in west village side by side and our back yards all join. We love i . If you want anymore info you can PM me.

I Agee on the house. We have done them for years and won't do anything less in Orlando.

We rented a house with other family members - I think this works well and as long as the adults have their own rooms and kids are fine sharing it's a great choice. Another option is a 4 Bedroom unit at Bonnet Creek. Each family would get two bedrooms (a master w/ King bed then another room with 2 full size beds). Each family could have a "side" of the unit. We have done both.

I prefer the condo resorts that give the conveniences of a hotel with the amenities of a condo. Here are the condo resort properties I'd look at. They are in all price ranges. The Villas at Grand Cypress are our favorites. You can share a multi bedroom condo or get individual one bedroom condos.

Villas at Grand Cypress, Parc Soleil Suites, World Quest Resort, Marriott Lakeshore Reserve, Marriott Cypress Harbour, Marriott Harbour Lake, Marriott Grande Vista, Marriott Sabal Palms, Wyndham Bonnet Creek Resort, Hilton Grand Vacations Suites at Sea World and Holiday Inn Club Vacations Orlando - Orange Lake Resort.

Are you driving in or flying in? How many total nights?
