ADRs when you don't have commitments from everyone

Yes, better to reserve for 6 if uncertain. If you show up with only 4 you will not be charged the no-show fee. If you can change the ADR in advance, that's great, but sometimes that's not possible.

It is always better to show up with less people than more. I would definitely book for 6 just to be on the safe side, and you won't have to worry about modifying adrs.

Is this a for sure?
We are travelling with 2 -17 year old girls, and not sure if after a day at parks, they will want to sit down with us for dinner. Just in case, I am booking for 4. If just DH and I show up, we will NOT be charged for them not showing??

Positive. Someone from the reservation just has to show up...it doesn't matter how many people end up actually eating as long as at least one person shows up.

It really is better to make those ADR's for the number who MAY be there so you are not scrambling around, trying to wok those two or three extra people. I made the first batch of ADR's for 9 people, and found out that several of our party was nto going to be able to make it. I left them alone, and figured there was time to reduce teh number as we got closer. I am so glad I did not because my DS and DDIL changed their vacations at work and can now join us! YAY! We have room at our table!

Yep. I heard it from more than one cast member when I called about getting a reservation at Ohana. I travel solo, and nothing would show up for one but I was finding availability for two. Apparently that is how their system is set up due to the "family style" serving of the meal - but it seems to be unique to Ohana for '"family style" as Garden Grill is also served "family style" and that always pops up for one if a time is available. The CM was unable to override it but confirmed that I could make it for two and only show up as one and would not be charged for the no show. (I declined making the reservation on principle - if they don't want to make a reservation for a solo I can only imagine how a solo would be treated. I'll stick to buffets or order from the menu.)

I cannot speak for 'Ohana because that place is so stinkin busy, but I would bet you a buck you would have a blast at Garden Grill! If I was dining alone, this is one ADR I would make based on the way the CM's and the characters interact with guests. The characters snuggled into the booth to "play" with my DGD, made a huge commotion over my adult niece, who I think was happier than the little one! and stopped at our table, as well as the surrounding tables multiple times. Our server seemed to be way more relaxed that the servers at other character meals.

I think that the systems that are used to make ADR's are simply systems, and while they may not be programmed to make solo ADR's, the people who implement those ADR's are. LOL! Please don't shy away fro GG, it was a favorite based on way more than food.

Oh GG will let me book as a solo. I just haven't yet. I might for this upcoming trip though...

That is why I was so confused as to why Ohana wouldn't since I figure they are on the same system. Different parameters I guess.
