How important is staying at your "FAVE RESORT".... OR is just being at Disney all that matters?

Just curious how many plan their trips around GETTING INTO THEIR FAVE DVC RESORT :lovestruc. Do you not really care as long as you can find a room/villa for your dates? Do you ONLY go if you can get that FAVE? :scratchin

We have stayed at all the DVC resorts except GF and Poly (and HHI) and yes we have faves , but we seem to never plan :surfweb: our trips at the 11 month window and sometimes not even at the 7th month, but we aren't that STUCK on a certain resort. For us..... we just WANT TO BE THERE. I am pretty much done with split stays though. It was a great way to stay at different resorts on one trip, but now I am tired of the moving. HOWEVER having said that....if we planned a last min. trip and had to split to get a place to stay... SURE WE WOULD SPLIT.

I know some friends that always plan at the 7th month mark in hopes to get a certain resort. I guess if you are going at a peak time it might need to be that way. Just curious how much it means to you to stay at your HOME RESORT or FAVE. popcorn::

Last year and this year we booked totally unexpected July visits at 5 weeks out. We were at SSR last year and we'll be there again this year, and that's fine, more than fine it's wonderful!

For our Christmas, NYE and Flower and Garden visits we have expectations about which resort we want, but other times of the year, we are just happy to be at WDW. For our "Pre DVC Member Cruise stay" this year we booked VWL at 11 months because we love VWL, but when Poly studios were available I jumped on one.

We are retired, have a fair number of points. I am celebrating 2 new knees that work with our SSR stay. 4 weeks ago when my doctor said that I can swim and travel, I knew we would be using our PAP at the water parks, and we were thrilled that SSR was available!

To us the parks are 1/3 of our experience, the resort 1/3 and the food 1/3 so it is VERY important to us. We stay in the room a lot.

We were trying to work our way through all th DVC resorts. We bought in 2012 and have done AKL, BWV, OKW,SSR, BCV and BLT. We're going back in October and I wanted to book at 11 months because our dates mattered a little more than normal so we ended up back at our home resort - AKL!

Still planning on hitting up the rest of them!

For us location is a little more important at certain times of the year. I WOULD like to be staying at BCV or BWV because of Food and Wine, but when it comes down to it, any DVC is better than Jersey!!!!

Not picky, mostly just happy to be there. We do manage to book at least once or twice a year at our home resorts (BLT and BCV) but have been known to switch at 7 months depending on where we want to be. Our favorite tends to be wherever we are at the time. ;)

Some things I plan at the 11 month mark (usually special occasions requiring more planning) and the rest at 6, and 4 months. I have 4 resorts I prefer, OKW, AKV, BLT, BWV, so I start at that point depending on the type of stay, ie: F&W, need of grand villa, more fine dining less parks. In the end I want the time at Disney, a resort away from home so if it has to be SSR then I'm ok with it because truthfully I've never had a bad stay and I've done them all except the Poly!

For us it's being there. We love SSR - so much that it's only now that we look to see where else we could stay. The first time we "cheated" on SSR for AKL I felt bad. That being said, I would stay happily at any DVC provided it made sense for my family.

My favorite resort is VGC, so it's pretty important, lol! We do manage to book there on our non-VGC points by being flexible, going at non-peak times, and being online right at 7 months. During higher seasons and for studios, this has been pretty much impossible for me, but we do own there as well for those situations.

I've only stayed at OKW at WDW so far, and have BLT/BWV booked for this summer. At this point, I'm happy to resort hop at WDW and see what there is. I want to try VGF and AKL next. The only resort that looks blah to me is Wilderness Lodge, and that's because the theme is too close to home. :-)

We prefer our home resort, BCV. We have stayed at AKV also and like it there a lot for a couple of nights only. We find that BCV area has so much to offer without even going to a park and the accessibility to two parks is awesome! I try to always book at 11 months so that I get my home resort!

At first I was thinking it doesn't really matter. Then I realized I would not be happy if I could only book a reservation at my least favorite DVC resort. Everyone has one right? I want to be sure to have an elevator in the building as my knees do not well with stairs, and you cannot do that at OKW.

I think it may depend on how many years and vacations you have had at Disney. After several years we found that we enjoyed the resorts/room more than the parks. We plan all of our vacations based on room and view availability.

Dont forget to get your First Visit Button for your new knees :P

I really don't care where we stay as long as we're at Disney. We do have our favorites but I'll book wherever there is availability .

Most of the year we'd be pretty happy anywhere however during F&W we like to be around Epcot to the point that twice we booked cash reservations at the Dolphin rather than using points.

Any night stay at any DVC resort is a blessing and very enjoyable for us.
A lot depends upon what we are planning or not-planning to do that trip.
Yes, we have certain resorts that we like more than others but that does not mean that due to the trip we will pass up being closer to one location than another. We weight the factors involved, our current points status and future plans, and then factor in what is available when we book. Sometimes we just take what is available and sometimes we wait to "see" if what we are looking for becomes available.

For our family staying at the BWV is a must, that's why we bought there. But that being said, this past April's trip my DW said we have to try to book BCV or the new Poly bungalows for our next trips. It would be the first time we venture away from our home resort........

Sounds like us. DH has one favorite, OKW, and since that's always available, it's OK. But I have about 4 that I strongly prefer, and have always been able to get one of those.

While we have our favorites, not getting them doesn't make or break our trip. I may be a bit bummed initially but I get over it pretty quickly. In saying that we do book quite early since I know early if I am off or not so we generally get what we want but not always.

We also often do a split say as we're often staying 10-12 nights. It makes the vacation fun to try out two very different resorts but sometimes when that split night happens I think, 'crud vacations half way over!' LOL Our next trip we're spending the whole WDW week at BLT post cruise. It's been a long time we've not done a split stay and I'm really looking forward to it actually.

In general, we don't need to stay at our 'fave', being at Disney is the most important part and we enjoy trying out almost all of the resorts. But...if only SSR were available, I don't think we'd book. I know some people love SSR, but we absolutely hate it.

Our main contract is OKW and as it's usually available at 7 mths out, we usually wait until 7mths and book somewhere else. The only time we book at 11 mths is for Food/Wine or Thanksgiving--using our small BWV contract.
