We are just back from a stay at Jambo. I booked the Kilimanjaro club room back 11 mos ago before they cancelled the sunrise safari that was available at that time, but since has been cancelled. We stayed in a studio this trip and usually stay in 1 BR, even though we only have 1 child, who is 17. We decided among ourselves that the 1 BR at Kidani will be our choice in the future. The snacks just outside the door were nice, and we saved a lot on food, I'm sure. We would eat a lunch in the parks, and then our dinner would be the appetizers in the lounge.
We also went to the lunch with the animal specialist at Sanaa. According to our host, there is currently a zebra on the Pembe savannah. Also, the springboks are off the savannah because the females are pregnant. The reason for the change in animal locations has to do with the breeding plans for the particular animals.
We don't find it very difficult to walk back and forth between Kidani and Jambo. To be perfectly honest about it, it takes less time to walk to Kidani than it would to walk out to the car. We only took the shuttle once, after the night safari, and that was because it was late, and they had brought it specially for us. If we had been staying at Kidani, we simply could have gone to our room. I think that while we stayed at Jambo this trip we made more trips to Kidani for activities than we typically do to Jambo when we stay there. However, we generally only go to Boma once per trip, and seldom to Mara. We usually have breakfast in the room, and eat at parks during the day. We missed out some days on the appetizers, etc because we were out of the room most of the time. We really prefer the 1BR at Kidani, having stayed at both.
Also, FYI, the savannah view from the club rooms at Jambo isn't great. In our room, there was a thatch roof that obstructed about 50% of the balcony view. The part of the savannah is narrow. We were there for a week and saw no animals at all from our room at least 3 of the 7 days. But, it was better than potentially having a pool view, which was on the other side. On the other hand, we have had trips where we saw more animals from our room and got better pictures, than on the safari in the park.
