No more towel characters

i do think it's tough in the world of the internet, what i see referred to as "pixie dust" would quickly become something expected each and every time.

This. The Dis has probably (inadvertantly) killed nearly as much magic as the penny pinchers. Once some special act or treat is mentioned online, then loads of people start complaining when they don't get it also. Only way to stop the complaints is to eliminate the unique, limited 'magic' and make sure every guest gets the same homogenized experience.

That is sad to hear. I don't expect any towel animals, but I was hoping to find one on our next trip. It is a pixie dust, so I never assumed to get one ever time. If they can make the rooms cleaner, then we are all for it.

That's a shame. I was sort of hoping to see one on our first trip. (Hey- 11 nights, I figured there was a pretty good chance of 1.) We've never done WDW or a cruise and I think towel animals are sort of cute. Won't ruin our trip, but it's too bad they're gone.

Just returned last Thursday night from a 10 day trip at BCV.

I'd totally forgotten about towel animals until I came upon this thread. Now thinking about it..nope...not one towel animal did we get. Not even the towel shaped into a Mickey head on our bedspread that we've always had in the past.

AND, Mousekeeping definitely was not having any "Towel Creating Lessons" in the lobby as they have during several of our past stays.

What a bummer! I have stayed on and off Disney property many times and never got to experience the magic of a towel character. It might seem small but it really does mean a lot to some people.

I stayed at Coronado Springs in December 2014 and we got towel animals! We got a monkey, I believe, and they made a swing out of a hanger and towel that they hung my stuffed animal and Baymax cup in. I feel like there was another one too. THey did a lot of cute stuff

I can take or leave towel animals, but I seriously doubt that their being discontinued is somehow gonna lead to cleaner rooms!:rolleyes2:sad2:

I'm betting that taking away the towel animals will lead to dirtier rooms.

(and this is not a dig on the work of the individual housekeepers who I am sure work very hard for little pay)

A lot of people have said they took the towels...I wonder if that is part of it.

I never have taken home a towel "origami" animal, and wouldn't think to do so. Yes, the towels can be re-used.

Perhaps this plays into why they don't wish to do it anymore?

The towels used for the animals were towels that were no longer usable for guests... This was Disney's way of recycling them. We have brought home several because we were told to. One of the times we were leaving they were all lined on the window ledge as we left our room and housekeeping was outside of our room... She told us to take them because they got sad when we left them behind. That was all my daughter need to here to stick them in her bag.

The Mickey heads were just a pain to have to take off the bed and stick somewhere for them to pick up the next day.

How much of a pain could it really be? how long would it take you to put the towel on the table or chair?

I like the towel animals but I find the Mickey heads on the beds annoying. I don't think they are that cute and yes, trying to find a surface to lay them on is annoying.

1) we used to get them almost every day.
2) We never took them home, but IT WAS a nice touch when entering the room.
3) I am sorry to se them go.
4) ANYTHING to increase a guest's experience is worth it (at least to me).
For many people the towel animals did just that. I have never experienced a dirty room while staying on property, but I am a realist. I know that I can get a better room in a better hotel with more "amenities" at a lesser price than staying onsite at WDW. The towel animals, although a small gesture was a little "Perk" that helped to make the cost a little easier to swallow. It was one of those things that you didn't get in a offsite property.

I honestly can't say that I would notice a visibly cleaner resort because there will no longer be towel animals...but I hate when they tell us that they're doing it because we (the guests) asked for it.

How depressing. Our last trip our mousekeeper noticed our anniversary pins and made us animals every day. it was such a magical touch to our vacation. I hope this isn't the case..

I didn't quantify it. I just said it was a pain- an annoyance. My grandson complained that we were killing Mickey every night and so as I said, they were just a pain to deal with.

By the way, they went in the floor of the bathroom with the rest of the used towels. Our tables are always cluttered and our chairs are used to sit in.

Hope that helps....

Wow, this is sad. We have had towel animals almost every time we have gone. Last October we got a new "scary animal" every day for Halloween. We put them in our window, like many other families were doing. This was my GF's second trip and she loved going to the room each evening to see what they had made this time. We were there 7 days and had 7 animals in our window. They live in their own special place, on the Disney shelf, in her house now. She still talks about that extra bit of magic.
