Which resort would you choose to purchase your DVC?? Why??

I would pick SSR. Lower MF, expires 12 years longer, and with the expanded Disney Springs I believe it has more to offer!

Exactly what was thinking, also the resale price is almost the same now, but you get more value with SSR

We used to own both, and have stayed at both. OKW is our favorite DVC resort because of the relaxed ambiance and much larger villas. To us, it's "home." We only stayed at SSR once and didn't like it, but of course a LOT of folks love it.

Financially, SSR is probably a better value if you plan on owning for more than a few years.

I'd buy at OKW. (no surprise considering my board name)
Benefits, significantly larger rooms, spread out so noise from others is seldom a problem, parking right outside your door, away from it all. If you buy direct from Disney you'll get the same expiration date as SSR. If you buy resale, some contracts have the later expiration date.

Both resorts have decent availability at seven months so home resort booking advantage is really a wash, unless perhaps the tree houses appeal to you the 11 month window on those might be helpful to own at SSR. I think SSR will hold its resale value a bit better due to the longer contract length and it's walkability to Disney Springs, so I would buy there.

I would (and did) buy SSR, even if you intend on staying at OKW. The price difference is minimal in the resale market, and easily justified by the lower dues and later expiration date.

The only caveat I would add is if you were considering Grand Villas or needed to be by the Hospitality House at OKW. Otherwise it seems pretty easy to get at 7 months.

Best use of your DVC dollar mathematically is to buy SSR but stay at OKW.

I would buy at my favorite resort but if I had to pick between OKW and SSR, I would buy SSR.

If you want elevators...stay at SSR. Very few OKW buildings have them. This is a deal breaker for us at this point of our lives. It seems that buying SSR is a better value due to longer contract.
