Bring double stroller or rent one?

We know we want a stroller for our 5 and almost 3 year old. I'm debating if we should bring our Sit and Stand or rent a double from Orlando Stroller rentals? Can you bring a double stroller on the Magical Express from the airport? We won't have a rental car so I don't mind spending the money to rent a stroller and the City Mini looks nice. Last time we were in the parks we had our sit and stand, but our youngest was an infant so she was in the carrier in the stroller.

If you aren't going to need it at the airport I would suggest renting!!! One less thing you have to worry about ;)

Keep in mind that you have to collaspe the stroller when riding on WDW buses and boats. We were on a boat from the MK to WL and one couple became very upset with the captain when he told them they could not board if they did not collapse the stroller.

You can bring a double stroller to the Magical Express bus, they will store it underneath the bus for your trip to your resort. But definitely make sure it is one that is comfortable for you and your kids, and one that you can easily collapse.

Both are good options - I would personally bring mine and save myself the rental fee and the hassle of getting through the airport without one, but we have rented from Orlando Strollers before and had great service.

Renting rocks. Our now 4 yo has not willingly gone in the stroller since she was one year old....except at WDW. We travel frequently. This next trip will be her 30th flight and 4th WDW trip. We don't use one in the airports. She also sleeps in a stroller there too and that NEVER happens anywhere else. We only have the one kid but get a double. When she sleeps it would be easy to tip one over with my big bag. I throw my bag in the other side and we roll. The rentals also collapse and open super easy. We've used Orlando in the past and they've been great delivering right to our WDW resort hotel, but we're trying kingdom this time for the case of water.

I have traveled many times with our Sit N Stand and I do love it for going through the airport. In the past we've used Cosco Scenera carseats which I could sit in the stroller and then put the kids in them to push. That said, it is not an easy stroller to push as the kids get bigger (the wheels are not the all terrain wheels of the City Mini and other "jogger" type brands) and I think that the City Mini will be far more comfortable and easier to maneuver. My kids have pretty much outgrown the Sit N Stand but we are going to rent a City Mini GT Double for the parks.

I loved my Sit and Stand last trip (other than when my daughter tried to sleep in the back seat), but this trip I with my 5 and 3 year old, I don't think I'll be able to push it. It was hard to push last year, and they have grown since then! I'm trying to sell mine and plan on using the money to rent when we go.

I'd bring it to save the cost. Although we have kids at a similar ages (will be a few months shy of 5 and 2.5 when we go in Nov.) and we are bringing two singles. Easier to maneuver than the double and if the little one is tired and wants to go back for a nap, doesn't force the old child to leave.

One of the rented strollers will be MUCH easier to push than your sit and stand. I owned a sit and stand for about 2 weeks before selling it and buying a stroller that was easy to push (BOB double). I would absolutely rent a stroller. It will make a HUGE difference in how you feel at the end of the day. I can literally push my bob with one finger. It glides as though it's floating on a cloud!

I was always cheap and took my stroller. I thought it was a waste of money to rent when I already owned a stroller. Well, last trip the opening/closing mechanism was broken during our flight. It made for a very painful older trip at different moments. Next trip, we'll rent.

I won't be needing my sit n stand at the airport but at the parks. What do I do with it during the flight, since it clearly it won't fit in the carryon overhead compartment. But checking it I won't have it once we arrive to our resort and the parks.

We've always brought our own. I never saw the point of paying to rent something I alrady own. Plus I always knew that the stroller I owned was comfortable for the kids and comfortable for us (we are tall) and I knew how to operate it.

Mostly, we were cheap, though.

How are you going to get your kids and luggage through the airports? Can you manage that without a stroller?

We are getting dropped off at the airport at our ticketing gate so luggage will be deposited immediately. Our 5 year old walks through airports and pulls her own carryon. We might being an umbrella stroller for the toddler.

We went ahead and booked a Citi Mini GT since I posted this. That will be a lot nicer than our Sit n stand. In the grand scheme of things, $80 is not really going to break the bank.

That's a great plan - there may even be some days that you don't need the double stroller at all - or only for half the day, IE Magic Kingdom where you park it in one land etc. Un umbrella would be nice for that, that's all we ever used with our two kids when oldest was 5. But then you'd have a double for EPCOT.

I will be bringing my own when we go in November (my kids will be 5 and 2) but we also have the City Mini GT Double so it would be the exact one we'd rent when we got there. I think I'd rather have ours in the airport for my younger one especially. My daughter could walk in the airport but if they're both in the stroller I would just feel more comfortable knowing where they were and not worrying about them running off. But if I had a different stroller I may consider renting on there. I love the City Mini GT and I think it will be much easier for you to push around at Disney than the sit and stand.

Saw that the OP had resolved their question. Our DD1 is 4.5 and we are renting a Citi Mini double GT to "test drive" it and see whether we need to get one. We'll probably gate check DD2's infant carseat and a folding single graco stroller (it is old and pretty trashed from daily use with DD1), and use them to help get through our home airport, and then use the double at the parks. DD1 is a good walker and never uses a stroller at home, but we used to use (before DD2 was born) an umbrella stroller as a luggage cart and then DD1 could sit if she got tired. We toyed with the idea of buying a CM double and bringing it but we would have had to check it as baggage and I didn't want to subject a new stroller to that.

We did what you did on our first trip when our kids were 2 and 4. We rented a double Citi Mini GT. For the airport, I brought our super small, cheapy umbrella for the 2 year old. It worked out great.

My kids will also be 5 and 3 when we go in November. They will be fine walking in the airport. I have a bumbleride double stroller with the large wheels, but it is bulky when folded. I also worry about it getting damaged from being tossed around on the airplane. I am renting a citi mini double too. They are a good stroller and fold up much flatter then my double so I think it will be easier to bring onto the busses.
