A couple questions about US & European Conversions

We are leaving for our first European vacation (which will include a couple days at DLP) in a few days and I have a few questions I'm hoping someone here can help me with.

1. If hubby normally buys XXL or XXXL (mens) t-shirts at WDW what would be the equivalent size at DLP? Or is the sizing similar?

2. I'm assuming/hoping they sell souvenir CD's of DLP music and a DVD souvenir that highlights the park, so will these work in my players here in the US? (I once heard that videos I think VHS weren't compatible so I'm think something more digital would be compatible).

3. And then just one more question that isn't related to my title but I don't want to start a new thread for it...We are taking the Eurostar from DLP to London and I changed our seats on it yesterday and went to print out my tickets today and it says that I have to pick them up in person at the station. That isn't the problem. But my question is can I pick them up at any time or just on the day of travel? I was thinking we could stop on our way back to the hotel sometime during the days we will be touring DLP.

Thanks for any help. This board has been so helpful to my planning! Thanks!

Anything that has the Disney Parks logo on it will be the same size as found in WDW and DL, as these items are also sold there, but good luck finding anything in XXXL in Paris. I'm that size and it is a bit of a mission to find things that fit me.

Unfortunately DLP does not make souvenir CD's of park music or DVDs now. If your lucky you might be able to find some old ones behind the tills in some of the shops but it is rare to see them out on display these days.

Yes you can, we pick up our tickets in the evening the day before traveling from the ticket machines to avoid the queues before we travel. Just make sure you bring the credit / bank card you made the purchase with and that it's a European chip and pin style card. But you should be able to print off your tickets at home from the Eurostar website and bring them with you.

Thanks for the quick response. What if the credit card I used for the Eurostar tickets doesn't have a chip? Is there an attendant? I printed my original tickets out at home, but I decided to change seats yesterday and I went to print off new tickets today and the only option it gave me was to pick up at the station. And what a big bummer about no CD's or DVD's.

There is a Eurostar ticket office at St. Pancras International that you can go into to get your tickets printed.
If your not bring a Chip and Pin card to Europe you might run into touble. If you plan on using a credit or bank card during your vacation contact your bank or card company in the US and ask for a chip and pin card, most US banks and credit card companies will issue you one for your travels.

The loss of CD's is due to the drop of sales, everything is downloadable from iTunes or from YouTube these days.

We are actually taking the Eurostar to St. Pancras from DLP. The credit card I used to book at home has a chip but it is chip and signature it doesn't do chip and pin I asked. We do have a travel debit card that is chip and pin. Is there an attendant at the DLP station or only machines for tickets?

This happened to me last time I went from MLV to London - I don't know if you can do it before or not you would have to go and ask at the Eurostar check in. The ticket office right at the back of the station can't do anything.

At check in when you pass your tickets in the machine they are refused, someone comes over and you tell them that you changed seats, they then take your tickets and issue you with the new seat changed ones and you go on through to passport control

I didn't bother checking it out before hand as I'm always there a good 45 minutes early but as you are passing you could check. :)

Thanks we are always early places, I just don't want to worry about it. It just seems strange that I could print out my original tickets months ago, and now that I decided to change seats I can't. Oh, well. If I can't get on the train, I'll just stay at DLP longer!

I was told that I couldn't do it as I wasn't going direct - are you going via Lille ?

When I used to go straight from Paris itself it was never a problem but now it will be everytime so they told me :confused3

As Carrie, I was also told you cannot print at home only when you change at Lille as you will need a special form ticket so you can put in the "yellow machine" sorry don't know why they call properly...
any changes you can give them a call? they are really good and helpfully and might be able to change this option for you or they can also change a card to use to pick up a ticket at station (I had a problem as well as the card I booked with is expiring at the end of June but I would need it to print ticket at station in August- we are going in-direct on the way back; when I rang them they offer to change the card details as its only use for identification or they could just post me tickets so I chosen it but don't know if they will post they all the way to USA but you can always ask:flower1:

We are leaving direct from the station at DLP. I think I will email them tomorrow it will all work out I'm sure. :-)

Just FYI, I traveled with a chip and signature last summer through Iceland, England, France etc. and had no issues. My old swipe card was even fine at most places. I used my chip and signature in the metro machines with no problem in France, too.

Hey, I just thought I would update....I had no problem using my chip and signature card anywhere in France or the United Kingdom. I had even carried a pen around but everywhere had a pen ready for me to use. The only problem we had was hubby's debit card, he could use it in the ATM's in Paris but not in the UK but our credit cards worked and we had enough pounds to get us by. The clothing sizing is definitely different in Europe an XL there is equivalent to a L in the states. So hubby is a large guy so he had a difficult time finding shirts. And the other question I had asked about was the Eurostar, it wasn't a problem getting tickets printed out at the station, we just arrived early (probably too early). Thanks for the advice!
