Beach Club Villa Renovation

Hello!

My family is planning a trip to Disney during Thanksgiving. Do you think we would be able to get a refurbished studio during our visit? Thanks!

Unknown at this time, it seems that they got off to a slow start and released some of the blocked rooms back into inventory maybe because they are moving the schedule out further.

:earsboy: Bill

Anyone there now who could give us a status update on the Villa renovations (and/or pics)? We are leaving in a few weeks, and I admit to being a bit worried about noise, but hopeful that might be outweighed if we get a newly renovated room :).

Would also love to hear from someone during this long weekend about renovation status! :confused3ENJOY the 4th at BCV!:cheer2:

Me too! Planning a trip for May next year and was hoping for a refurbed room.
Any word?
✨✨✨

Several threads on here indicate the BCV refurb has been pushed off indefinitely, possibly starting in 2016.

That's what I'm reading too. If the OP is going thanksgiving 2016 it might be possible. We were at wdw last week and visited bcv. Nothing had started yet. However, they are still refurbing the beach club resort, but not the villas. I think that confuses people. They will post BC and most folks assume they mean BCV.

We stayed at BCV last week..they are working on room in BC but nothing in the Villas yet. We thought the refurbished BC rooms looked nice though :)

I recently contacted DVC Member Services and asked about the BCV Refurb schedule. They replied that the refurb had been delayed and there were no new dates to share, either for beginning of start or proposed end of process.

Same here. I don't get it, I also own Marriott timeshare in Aruba and not only are they regularly refurbed but you can readily get information when you ask. Why is this refurb timeline a secret kept from dues paying members?

DVC members should get a refurb schedule a year or 2 in advance

I agree. Of course in this case it was announced at the annual meeting and in the Disney Files magazine and then delayed so even a 2 year notice would not have mattered. I definitely think it ought to be announced at least a year in advance so you could factor that into your plans to visit.

This is one reason why I don't bother going to the annual meeting any more (besides the fact that members have no say). There have been several big announcements over the years that haven't happened. I remember in 2005 being told that BWV studios were getting coffee tables soon-well, I'm still waiting. I remember that one especially because that year, for the first time, I was staying at BWV and as soon as I walked into my studio, I called housekeeping to report that someone had stolen my coffee table!

The only problem about announcing refurbishments in advance is that members will be unhappy when the remodel gets delayed and they could have stayed at their favorite resort. People will always be upset by refurbishments. As long members understand that remodel dates can be moved back or even forward then I don't see why it is not announced in advance.

DVCMC should have notified VWL members a year ago that their resort would be undergoing a major remodel and DVC would limit the bookings for a specific time period. It is DVCMC's responsibility to take of the members needs.

Then maybe they should announce at the annual meeting that it's scheduled, but remind people that it's not etched in stone and MAY be delayed. What I object to is that they announce it as if it's definitely going to happen, rather than a "it's scheduled, barring unforeseen circusmstances."

+1

Saw a lot of work on the hotel wing, but no apparent activity on the BCV side.

If only!....we're staying in December in VWL with a relative, and I've booked a special "gals"vist for May at BCV., and a family visit there over 4th of July! My timing is awful, and I have other homes and could have planned differently, but I seem to have bad luck! I sure hope SAB is not off limits, I can deal with construction, but we're there for SAB.

It is not fair to those of us who own at BCV that OUR rehab is delayed due possibly to expansion at VWL. We pay dues like everyone else, but haven't had a full rehab in a long time. It is especially aggravating that we are now one of the few remaining resorts that cannot sleep 5 in a studio!

Couldn't agree more
