RC Kids activities?

We are considering a RC cruise but am questioning the youth rooms age levels. My girls are 7 and 10 so they would be split, correct? I'm not sure how they would like this and am reluctant to put forth the money and have them not give Mom and Dad some peace and quiet. (yes I'm being selfish here).

Are the clubs in the same area and they loosely separate activities based on age or are they in completely different rooms?

When are you going? Depending on how many kids are on the cruise they sometimes combine them. January last year and October last year the 6-8s and 9-11s were combined on our cruises.

IMO they have terrific kid programming, and if the kids give it a chance (always go the first night!) they will find they don't have to be together. The counselors are kind and personable, and have given much more individual attention than the crowded all ages madhouse on dcl. By the second day in the club the counselors on royal have known my son by name even outside the club area. Whereas on Disney in a total of 15 days onboard there have been two people who recognized him (though one did recognize him from one cruise to the next) so those two stuck out.

Thank you! We are still in the very early stages of looking. My youngest would most likely be fine but my almost 10 year old is very shy at first and I think would have a hard time. I appreciate your input!

My experience is that the CMs on RCI are very engaging with the kids. My sons actually liked going and went several times. For frame of reference, they went ZERO times on our last DCL cruise, which was the WBTA (14 nights). They just don't like it in the lab, where they basically only are on a computer or Wii (which we don't allow at home so I guess that's why they don't care much). On RCI they play Gaga ball with the kids, do activities, and give them lots of attention. On DCL it seems that the kids mostly do stuff on their own and the CMs are more supervisory than engaged.

We went with friends, their girls were 11 and 8 and our boys were 12 and 7 at the time. They didn't go for more than two hours the whole trip(5 days). We skated, played mini golf, went to shows, went to beaches and went sight seeing and ate, ate and ate. There was a disco party on the promenade that we rented a movie in the room, ordered room service pizzas for the kids and checked up on them a couple times an hour while we were right down stairs. Their room overlooked the promenade, one floor up, and you could see in and wave to the kids, which was great.

I just got off the Liberty of the seas last week. My sons are 7 & 9 so they were in the different clubs. My 7 yr old loved it, begged to be there all the time. The 9 yr old isn't as much of a joiner and he even went (about 1/2 the time) the took the time to find something that interested him. so he would be completely bored there.
There are activities that were combined and times they were separate. Both spent some time there.

our DD was 9 when we went on Oasis and went to the clubs every night - we would let her go from 8/9 till close...they did a variety of activities, found out what the kids were interested in, led those activities, played gaga ball and other activities- she loved the clubs. Sometimes they would be combined with the younger ones if the groups were smaller/some activities. I think she she def liked them equal to Fantasy which we were just on this past May
