Southwest DTW-MCO direct

We have used Southwest to fly DTW-MCO several
times and always direct. I am pretty sure the only three airlines offering direct routes are Delta, Spirit and Southwest.

Our next trip is January 2016 and since SW will be releasing the dates soon, I was searching for the times/prices of flights that are already released. I searched Saturdays because that is the day we will be travelling, but all the flights had at least one stop?! Does SW still fly that route direct on Saturdays at all?

I flew roundtrip DTW-MCO last January on a Saturday both ways and will be going again in late August. So far as I could tell, Southwest did not offer direct service on that route. I had to change planes in Atlanta both ways. There is one Southwest nonstop to MCO out of Flint, and I suppose the other options are as you said, Delta or Spirit out of DTW. I hate both of those airlines a LOT and will not fly them.

I believe they stopped non-stops to MCO from Detroit since it is a Delta hub, it's tough to compete. They do have non-stops from Grand Rapids and Flint.

I believe direct flight is a stop. You need a non-stop flight that goes straight through.

I am so excited!! I woke up early to buy our flights immediately once the booking window was open, and I had resigned myself to flying out of Flint. I purchased the flights and then went back to look from Detroit, just to see the prices. Turns out there was ONE flight each day, DTW-MCO nonstop! I rebooked immediately. Departing flight was actually cheaper than Flint, return was more expensive, but it only cost an extra $3/pp when all was said and done. Yay!!

Ah yes, I see that one nonstop near the end of their present booking schedule. Good deal. I just re-checked my late August dates, and it's the same. I wonder if that one nonstop will be the rule from now on, or just a seasonal thing.

With our trip last October we had to fly out of Flint for a direct flight. We flew back to Grand Rapids with a stop at BWI.

I looked today....I saw no direct flights out of DTW ?...maybe limited? I am hoping this returns!!

We were already planning to fly Saturday-Saturday, so it really worked out for us since those nonstops only seem to be on Saturdays. I looked every other day of the week before and after our flight dates, and ours are the only nonstops offered. If you are flexible, search for Saturdays!

We are flying from DTW to MCO on a Saturday for a cruise and back the following Sunday. We have a plane change in Atlanta on the way home. I hate to take flights with plane changes on the way there due to more chance of them losing our luggage, but don't mind so much on the way home.
