We have been going to Disney since my children were 4 and 2. They are now almost 13 and 11. My youngest has battled with OCD and sensory issues since she was very young, as well as going through 4 spinal surgeries and the loss of her father due a very sudden death when she was only 3 and her sister 5.
She has never been able to handle watching anything in 3D as it is very overwhelming with the sensory things has struggled with. I have had to leave Philharmagic with her clinging to me in hysterics because she was so upset. (would have never taken in her in there if i thought it would upset her that bad)
This past trip, just a few days ago, we had a monumental milestone in our family that I am still in awe over. I am so proud of my daughter and her hard work! She has really worked hard at trying new things that have truly been impossible for her in the past. She wanted to give Philharmagic a try and I was actually unsure, but not wanting to discourage her I smiled and told her let's go! The cool part was that we had my brother's family there with us to share in the experience!
She not only made it through the entire show, but she even wore the glasses the ENTIRE TIME!!!! She was giggling and her smile was priceless. I was in tears and it was so incredibly beautiful. It was so bittersweet as well because her daddy could not be there in person to see his amazing little girl overcome such a mountain. I know God was allowing him to watch, so I take comfort in that for sure, though. It was precious to see her older sister rejoicing with her and I could see their daddy in her reaction for her little sister, so that was a gift for me.
I am now on the hunt for a Philharmagic pin!! I want her to have a memory of this moment to always remind her she can do anything she puts her mind to!!
