San Francisco ABD

I'm considering this trip in 2016 since I can't do Australia for a couple of years. Has anyone done it? Thoughts? I looked through the trip reports and I didn't see anything posted. Thanks in advance.

I don't think I've heard from anyone doing it yet.

As far as the trip is concerned, the Fairmont Hotel is the 'Grand Dame' of San Francisco. I've never stayed there, but I've eaten there, and it was marvelous.

You're certainly seeing a lot for a long weekend. Lucasfilms and the Walt Disney Family Museum are pretty unique, and you get to see Fisherman's Wharf and the Presidio and Angel Island. Plus the side trip to Napa and Muir Woods sounds wonderful, too (I've been to both, and they're lovely!)

It's obviously a much shorter trip than you're used to, but I think they pack a lot into that short amount of time. I've been toying with doing it the next time I'm in California.

I haven't done the SF ABD, but I had a chance to visit many of the places they visit last week for a meeting. Muir Woods is beautiful. WDF Museum has been my Mecca for many years now. I finally made the pilgrimage out there. So cool! I highly recommend it. I'm curious what the Lucasfilm involves. You can walk over there and see the Yoda statue. Also the Fairmont is a beautiful hotel. That's were I stayed last week.

Thanks Sayhello and Cousin Orville for the input! We went to SF a couple years ago,but this trip has so many of the things I wanted to do and didn't get around to. Plus, the Lucasfilm experience has peaked our interest since we both love Star Wars. I would live to do the backstage magic trip, but my husband is not a Disney fan so getting him to DL would be a pretty difficult feat. Plus, with it being a shorter trip it will fit well in our schedule.

I have been looking at this one as well. We have been to SF and the Walt Disney Family Museum and loved both. It seems like a great way to see the area and try out ABD.

Tonia-I have the same issue with my DH. We go to Disney World but can't even agree on the number of days to go to DL let alone doing the ABD.

You only get one breakfast with this trip which seems a little weird. Not a big deal but just seems odd.

So you understand:-) we just went on a Disney cruise with some friends and their two girls (we don't have children) and I'm still unsure how I was able to get him to go.

Our sister-in-law wants us to go to WDW with them, but I just don't think that will be an option. I think that may be a little too much Disney. I'm excited to see when the dates will be in 2016. I think this trip will be a great little getaway.

That sounds amazing! I'm not sure if I could talk DH into it. When will you know if you're doing one in 2016?

I am doing this trip in September. I'll be happy to do a trip report if anyone would like to hear about it. I'm a little curious to see how the long weekend trips compare to the regular Adventures.

Please do! I'd love to read a trip report about this trip! I'm sure others would, too!

Yes....please do report your thoughts!! I'm booking on the 10th when the dates are released for those of us who have not done an adventure in the past, but I would still love to hear your thoughts. It is going to be my 40th birthday gift to myself. I figure I can easily get my DH on a weekend trip

Hi Stephanie!!!!

Have you been on another ABD since Italy??? We are doing Central Europe in Sept. Mel

Hello again!

This is my first ABD since Italy! I am doing two trips this year with ABD - Alaska & the long San Francisco weekend. Last year we went with someone - else - and it was a much different experience.

I hope you'll post a trip report when you return. I'd love to hear how it compares to our Italian andiamo experience!

We are getting excited about it! Of course, nothing will compare to the first ABD with 12! Linda ran into Marco on her Southern Italy trip with ABD. IASW.

Let us know how you like SF and Alaska!

You have no idea how many times I have looked around since then, wishing for Dusty or Marco B to materialize...

I'll be posting trip reports here this time, hopefully!

I am doing this in August, three days after my first ABD (Peru!) Just enough time to do my laundry and clean off my desk at work. Can't believe I'll be lucky enough to meet four of the great ABD guides.
