Can you pay to upgrade at check in?

I rented DVC points for a room at the Poly. Poly club level was not an option when booking through David's. Is there a possibility to pay to upgrade before arrival or at check in?

No. There are no club level DVC rooms at the Poly. And there are no upgrades with DVC.

You can't mix cash and points on a DVC reservation. So there's no way to pay cash to upgrade a room when you're booked on points.

You couldn't make a reservation change at this point anyway, but for your next trip....if you want club level at Poly, you don't want to rent points. Since there are no club level rooms in the DVC resort at Poly, to get club level in the hotel portion of the resort, the member would need to exchange out of DVC, pay an additional $95 fee, and convert their points to reservation points. Very few members would be willing to do this, David's won't do it at all, and the cost to you would likely be much higher than paying cash and booking through Disney.

The value in DVC (or renting points) is in the use of points at DVC resorts.

Points required for a Poly Club Level Room range from 83-135 per night depending on season and day of week.

DVC Studio rooms at the Poly go from 20-42 points per night.

The only DVC that has club level is Animal Kingdom Lodge-Jambo House and those 5 studios are only 17-33 points a night.

Please, don't even ask about any kind of upgrade at Check-in. There are no free upgrades, or cash upgrades with DVC. An upgrade of any kind would require both availability (very rare) and more points (which renters have not paid for). This type of upgrade would only happen in the very rare circumstances that there happened to be availability for a larger villa, but it has happened before, and renters are asked to not even inquire about upgrades. As mentioned above, if you are interested in club rooms, or are anticipating any kind of a free upgrade or an upgrade with cash, do not rent DVC accommodations.

And in those rare situations when a DVC reservation is updated, it is likely due to an issue with the original villa. If there is no availability for another studio (for example), and a 1-bedroom is available, then an upgrade in this situation may happen. However, this is a rarity and not an opportunity for the asking.

But there are no one bedroom villas at the Polynesian.

Hmm, that would be interesting to see what they would do, if something was wrong with your Poly studio villa, and there were no other studios available. Would they put you in a regular room on the hotel side, or a bungalow, lol.

I'm pretty sure they have a few set aside for cases like that...as much as I would love to dream ;)!

Either another Poly studio, a Poly resort room or move you to another resort. There's no way Disney is putting a studio-dweller in a bungalow for a maintenance issue.

I know when they overbooked at BWV- they put us on the Inn side- we had a studio booked for just 1 night but they had no room so they put us in a Village Green Inn Room instead.

We had booked an ocean view room in the inn for one night at Vero Beach before our cruise. When we checked in, they apologized that they didn't have any available and put us in a garden view instead. They refunded the point difference and gave us four meal vouchers to Sonya's, which we felt was more than fair.

I have no experience - but let me guess....

At book in, you want to give Disney MORE MONEY. My friend, if Disney can't find a way to take MORE of your money? Something is VERY broken :).

You cannot upgrade a points stay with cash.

We are talking about rooms owned by DVC members - not rooms owned by DISNEY. So we're not talking about wanting to give DISNEY more money.

It's more like paying to rent Mary Smith's home for a vacation, and then when you arrive, asking the rental agent checking you in if you could upgrade to John Doe's home across the street.
