Hello!

I am new to the Disboards, and so happy that I have joined!
I have been to Disney a few times before and this year we will be going at Christmas time. I am sooooo excited!!!!! We are a family of five, me, my husband and our three daughters. Looking for suggestions or thoughts on the top three Christmas things to do/see at Walt Disney World. (We are arriving after MVMCP, so that can't be one of them :earsboy: ).

Thanks for any tips!!

Osborne lights at HS
Candlelight Processional at Epcot
Illuminations has a special ending for the Christmas season
Holiday storytellers in Epcot's World Showcase
Resort hopping - deluxe resorts

Ok, that's more than three but all things that are on our list every year.

Hollywood Studio lights.
Very Merry Christmas Party (with different parade and fireworks).
Candlelight Processional
Gingerbread houses in the couple resorts with them.
All of Wilderness Lodge (my vote for best holiday decorations).

There is some interesting holiday time only tours to see the popular events and backstage for the holidays if your into tours.

Thank you for the responses.
We have never been at Christmas time and I'm so excited to see the world all decked out.
I just don't want to miss anything!

If at all possible, watching the decorations being put up is pretty awesome. I go annually in November when they put them up, and I got to see the semi-trucks come in, huge crew arrive, and the decorations just started rolling. It was pretty cool.

And the Osbourne Lights at DHS are pretty tough to beat.

How do you get to see them actually put them up? I've seen lights start to appear in september even though they don't use them until after halloween but I've never seen the opportunity to watch them set it up.

In the resorts, you can just go out and watch. I was staying at the GF and I went to the lobby and just watched for a couple hours. They start at like 10 or 11pm and work through the night. When you wake up in the morning, its all done. I know they stagger the schedules, but the resort desks tend to know when its going to be (I missed it by one day this past year).

I was hoping for more of a hidden tour or something you happened to run into :) Good tip to know.

Here is a time lapse of the crews taking down the fall decorations after the last MNSSHP and putting up the Xmas decorations.

I wish... I know they have something called the Holiday D-Lights tour...not sure the details, but I think they do a bit of behind the scenes stuff. You should take a look.

I"m in the area a couple times in oct and nov for business so I was going to look into those see it fast tours since i'll not be able to turn either into a real holiday trip. That one did sound interesting.

If you can manage to stay overnight at a resort, I'd track down one of the Deluxe resorts and what find out what night they're putting in their decorations. Book one night and just watch the show. Its really quite the operation.

I know you said you can't do MVMCP, but it would be among my top three. My other two are the Osborne Lights, and going to Ft. Wilderness to see how guests have decorated their campsites.
