Rain ponchos

$1 at Walmart in the camping area. We always pack a ton of these and if we come home with them we keep them for next year and if we use them it was well worth the $4 for all of us.

Thanks, that's what we'll do.

would it be smart to pack rain ponchos for an upcoming trip in september?! we typically go in January and this is our first time going in September. Just really want to be prepared and not have to spend too much $$ in the park for one

1996 - First Visit to WDW @ Dixie Landing
2005 - Off Property
2011 - Caribbean Beach Resort
2013 - All Star Movies Resort
2014 - Art of Animation Resort
2015 - Grand Floridian (upcoming)

Absolutely! September is peak rainy season and you are guaranteed to get rain. My family and I went to WDW in early September and had a great time. When it would start raining, we would toss our ponchos on and continue to tour while most guest would leave or hangout in the gift shops. I think we rode more rides on that trip than any other trip we took because the lines were next to non-existent.

We brought the cheap $1 ones from Walmart and they were horrible. Very thin and the hood kept flying off our heads. We purchased the Disney ones and they were so much better. Plus, when the seam ripped on one of the Disney ones we were able to pop into a shop and exchange it for a new one. Not sure if that is still the case though.

We've "splurged" on the sturdier $5 ones at Walmart. They were near the umbrellas and purses. In three trips to Disney, we used them one time there, but just in the last two weeks, we've used them at very rainy swim meets. Glad we paid for the "better" ones.

I buy several for everyone at the dollar store, we use them for rain showers and water rides and then just toss them.

I have had my Disney poncho for 4 years and have used it many many times and it is still like new. They are a good investment as they are quite sturdy.

I can't stand the ponchos sticking to my body. I went on Cabellas and found light weight hooded jacket to the hips with a mesh lining for the three days of expected rain. There are frog togs too. So much nicer, they get used all Spring/Summer and trips.
Crocs for my feet kept my sneakers dry.

I have looked at the disposable rain ponchos at the dollar stores and they seem to take up as much space as the nicer packable rain coats that we have for every day use. DH and I have had packable rain coats called SacJacs for years. I just bought the girls some from Lands End. They cost a little more but will hold up better and we won't look like everyone else.

- Done the dollar store route, tossing them each day after using but got tired of them not really doing the job and sticking to us. They are lighter but sticking made us hotter.
- Have the Disney ones, even some that are 13 years old and still perfect so I consider them a great investment. If you have time to order them via Disney Store with discount that is great. They fold into a quart sized ziploc.
- Saw some folks with the IKEA ones and stopped them to ask, they look to be a perfect type hood, length, weight etc. Am heading there to get some of those soon.
- If I were to get some at Walmart, go with the midpriced ones around $5, probably comparable to Disney's which are around $9.

I had to buy a poncho recently because of a possibility of rain at a baseball game. Bought mine at target, it was under 10 made by totes. Of course we get to the stadium and even though we were row 20 of lower level....we were covered. Never needed to bring out the poncho, but I have it put up in my disney trip pile. Plan on going to get a few more but I saw the ones on disneystore site and now I kinda want to order one of those lol.

I have both the Disney poncho and the dollar variety. If I am pretty sure it is going to rain, I bring the Disney poncho with me (and dry socks and perhaps a small towel to wipe seats), otherwise I keep a dollar store poncho in my pocket and can go through the security line without bags.
