DisneyQuest Closing

DQ While amusing for a couple hours was a terribly outdated attraction. We went because it was included in our package but would never have paid separately to enter.

This is a huge building with a lot of potential that needed to be used better by Disney. As for the NBA experience? Why not? I'm picturing a very well done fully interactive experience with lots of games and entertainment. This is a great fit for DTD and a great idea IMO.

There's lots of attractions at WDW for those of you who aren't interested.

Some people just have to complain about everything.

Went once and didn't have much desire to go back. No interest in the new NBA attraction at all.

Well if so many of ya'll Americans are not at all interested in an NBA attraction, imagine how popular that its going to be with us international visitors where NBA has almost no interest at all!!

I give it a year at most!

Nah Disney quest was outdated and lackluster for what 15 years? Even if it's a bust NBA will be around for at least as long as the virgin megastore was

No interest in the NBA whatsoever, but last year was the first time we did disney quest. It was a rainy afternoon and we had an ADR for TRex couple that with free passes to DQ and we figured we'd give it a try. We were robbed .... And it was free. Totally stole a couple of hours of vacation there. Horrible place. A far less fun version of Dave and busters.

Personally I would prefer football or baseball (and I think that they're both bigger than basketball) but there is no denying the popularity of basketball in the US. I just wonder why limit a place to just a single sport.

Sponsors of course. When the NBA is willing to sponsor it Disney isn't going to back down. Also ESPN and ABC have a lot of the NBA rights compared to other sports.

Not surprised. I wanted to go there but what i've heard and read. The place is disrepair and outdated technologically.

Not surprised at all.

This was to be expected. DisneyQuest never brought in much of a crowd and currently is too old and outdated to make what would have to be a very costly refurb justified. It's full of poor simulators which would look right at home on the PS1 or N64. Sum of All Thrills at Epcot can do everything Cyberspace Mountain can 10x better, half of the attractions seem like they could be included in a late 90's-early 2000's PC game, and the top 2 floors of the building are so bad, broken, and unplayable it really comes off as sad. The only 2 rides that are fun and weren't made obsolete by other attractions, POTC and Buzz Lightyear, are still not worth the $40 price of admission imoz.

I don't have much to say about NBA other than I'm sure the food will be pretty good. I'm not excited, but it's not a bad addition imo.

You complain the attraction that was included in your package is terribly outdated and you would not pay for it separately, then say some people have to complain about everything.

How will Disney make up for the lost value of a Premium Annual Pass? Probably with a price increase.:badpc:

There's no complaint anywhere in that post.

Thanks for the quality contribution to DIS.

You complain that you think it's outdated.

Some people complain they liked DQ but don't like the NBA.

So you are part of that complain train with everyone else.

You are welcome for the contribution. Thank you for replying with your contribution.

Yep, I'm a football/baseball kind of guy but internationally basketball is more popular than either despite being #3 here.....Basketball for being such a simple game is marketed incredibly well and this is just more of it

I wasn't complaining it was outdated, I was merely stating a fact. It wouldn't bother me if they if they left it as is. I don't care. I was not complaint it's part of our package, I'm glad it is. Otherwise I wouldn't get to see it, because I wouldn't pay $50 a head to go in there.

I think the NBA experience is a good idea. It really doesn't matter to me which sport they picked. I like hockey, baseball and football more than the NBA but so what. I think it will be a cool place.

For some reason you didn't like my first post and are feebly grasping at straws to make an argument that isn't there.

Well I'm glad I got a chance see DisneyQuest up close and personal when I visited DD a few years ago. Yeah it may have been old and outdated, but as a lover of video games...I loved it! I got a chance to play a bunch of old school classics and just take in the overall atmosphere; basically it was your classic 80's/early 90's arcade-on a much grander scale. LOL I'll be sad to see it go, but technology has advanced by leaps and bounds in the last two decades and unfortunately arcades are succumbing to this.

My only complaint was that the layout was confusing (not many exits/elevators slow or not working). Now thinking back on it, I wish that I had participated in the Animation Academy sessions. I'm a big NBA fan, but it just doesn't seem to fit in Disney parks IMO.

I guess I'm looking past the "NBA" theme. Obviously it's impossible to form a complete opinion until the finshed product is known.

Do due the size of the place and description of what they are doing, I'm envisioning a restaurant, lounge, exhibits, tons of TV's, lots of interactive games and live broadcasts from time to time. I'm thinking hoop shooting games, video games, some type of virtual reality games, etc.

I think the idea is for it to be a fun place to grab a meal and spend a couple hours on an off park day or evening at DTD. Same idea as Splitsville. Disney Springs needs a few different options like this. NBA theme isn't my first choice either, but if the games are fun it could be a cool place. But I'll reserve final judgement when I see it.

Regardless, this is a large building in a prime location, it's not hard to see why Disney wanted to update it's usage of this property. Time will tell if their choice of upgrade is a success. I'm approaching it with an open mind.

I would be all for this if they were replacing it with something better but NBA? Really? Well I won't be visiting it for sure. You can say you can't make a judgement until you see the final product but there is absolutely no way you can make basketball interesting to me. I assure you of that. This will only attract a niche market and I doubt it will last long. I visited DQ twice and it was old. The VR was sad at best but my kid had lots of fun with some of the games. Ah well, guess this will join Maelstrom and Camp Minnie Mickey as an attraction I visited that no longer exists.
