Meal sharing...1 plate, 2 forks

So, I've been losing weight in preparation for this upcoming WDW trip. One of the side effects, which is great, is that I don't have a big appetite anymore. My DD17 doesn't always finish her meals either. If I have to, I will leave food on my plate when I'm finished. (I can hear my mother's voice in my head telling me about all of the starving children in the world...)

Is it allowed in any of the table service restaurants to share a meal with another person? It just seems like a big waste of food and money...we have the Dining Plan: 1 QS, 1 TS, & 1 snack.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Sure you can. Just not at buffets. I also hit the diet before. I blow it on purpose while there. I'm low carb so I don't eat less. Just more meat.

My mom and I share meals all the time. Sometimes we order an extra salad or appetizer, sometimes not.

I shared meals with my son the entire time, TS and QS. Obviously no sharing at buffets and no sharing at Via Napoli on the dining plan. I think there might be a couple of others, but overall it was easy, especially at QS.

We don't do the dining plan but my teenage daughter and i share everywhere we go! She doesn't eat much and it keeps me from over-eating.

You can share at most table service restaurants where you order from a menu. Occasionally someone will post that a server or restaurant would not allow it so it is best to ask first. One TS restaurant that has consistently not allowed sharing when using dining plan credits is Via Napoli. Also, at VN if you are ordering pizza dining credits can only be used for the individual sized pizza and you cannot combine credits to order a larger size pizza.

You cannot share and everyone will be charged a credit (or pay out of pocket) at buffets (e.g. Crystal Palace, Tusker House), family style all you care to eat venues (e.g. 'Ohana, Garden Grill), the dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, Spirit of Aloha Luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), fixed price venues (e.g. CRT, Akershus), Fantasmic and Candlelight Processional Dining Packages, special fixed price events (e.g. dessert parties, Dine with an Imagineer), and the Family Platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

1) We do this ALL THE TIME . . . MrsRustyScupper and myself have smaller appetites, now that we are Senior Citizens
2) In fact, the kitchen automatically splits the entrée and sides for you.
. . . they will plate the items for you
. . . this eliminates the possibility of making a mess while dividing
. . . also stops fights as to who got the bigger chunk of the entrée *
3) Just mention, "We are splitting the ........"

* Better to for spouses to fight over whether the toilet paper is mounted with the end under the back of the roll or over the front.

We like to share entrees when we are in DIsney. That way we can enjoy some of an appetizer and dessert. The chef will plate inteh kitchen, as Rusty Scupper suggested, so each plate is lovely

Block the voice. She was always wrong in saying it to you. The food on your plate was never going to help the starving children unless you took it to a starving child. Actually the onus here is on the preparer. Better to make less food or put less food on a plate if you know people won't eat it all. That way you can have nicer leftovers. Or buy less at the store, lowering the resources being used.

Regardless, ALL food leaves the home as waste of one sort or the other. You choose the method it leaves your home. (Home in this case has an expanded definition to the WDW area)

Hope you have free dining? Otherwise using the dining plan doesn't make huge amounts of sense. Though by sharing at non-buffets you can spread out the credits more.

I agree! I am pretty possessive with my desserts as well!

Yes, we often say "We'll be splitting [the main course] so we can each have dessert." I remember one time there was a misunderstanding at B&C, and she thought we were sharing dessert too. When she brought us the No Way Jose Sundae with 2 spoons, we all had a big laugh when we said "Oh, N0-I'm NOT sharing dessert!"

Bumpershoot: Great points. No we don't have free dining plan, but the amount of food my DH eats will make up in how much my DD and I won't be eating. Also, we have two signature meals, so we will be paying out of pocket for 4 meals. I went through menus of our ADRs and chose the cheapest ones to pay for...getting more bang for our bucks. Now that we can share at least two meals, I will be paying less out of pocket. I just have to figure out the best way to approach Via Napoli. I normally get full on two slices from a large pizza (NY style) at home. I'm thinking about sharing a large with DD. That would be $28 rather than $17 for each of us to have an individual pizza. DH can have whatever and eat what we don't finish. I heard that Via Napoli doesn't let you share on the dining plan, so this would be one of the restaurants where I pay out of pocket.

*Roll over the front for sure!!!!

Sometimes they will even separate the one order for you on 2 plates.

Word of warning on this one. My husband and I shared meals a few years ago and when we split a burger and fries, we each got half the burger but a full serving of fries each. So, you might get your entree split but those sides, oh, those sides. Be prepared.

1) Yep.
2) The MrsRustyScupper and I agreed upon this during our FIRST DATE.
3) And, no, I do not remember how toilet tissue got into the conversation.
4) But, it did, and last month we celebrated our 30th Wedding Anniversary.
5) As easy as it was to agree on toilet paper rolls, we still disagree on hard or soft butter sticks.
6) I guess marriage is made of compromise . . . as long as she keeps the butter cold and hard.
