Length of stay with babies?

I'm planning a 14 day trip for this August with a 7 week old. We have 10 day tickets so we will have a few off days as well as a wedding to attend at the boardwalk a few days into the trip.

We will have a 6 month old for our next trip in October. We are going for a full week. I have somewhat over planned with the assumption that when we are there we may change things around depending on how we feel. Right now we have 2 parks a day with a break in between. My thoughts are with the full week if we decide to change a day and only go to a park in the morning or evening and spend the day/evening at the resort we can do that and still have plenty of time to be in the parks. We also have the flexibility to be in the parks for just a few hours at a time.

We did 10 days with our 5 1/2 year old in 2012 -- it was great, but a couple of days too long, honestly. DD has sensory disorder, which has improved considerably as she's gotten older -- even at 5 she was absolutely TERRIFIED of the fireworks, loud rides, dark rides, etc... it really limited what we could do. No way would I have taken her any younger than that. Even at almost 9, I'm still concerned about fireworks and a lot of the loud rides.

Meh. Our normal trips are 10 nights/11 days (we have an 8 and 10 year old and have been doing that length annually since they were 3 and 5).

Now, our upcoming April trip is only 7 nights/8 days because we will be bringing our (will be) 3 month old for his first trip. We just wanted to do shorter since it will be our first time traveling with him, but we are already thinking that is going to be too short. We shall see.

Since this thread got bumped... :)

We ended up doing the 7 night and our (then) 3 month old did awesome.

Our trip next year is 8 nights, including a 4 night cruise. We shall see what our breaking point is. :)

we just did 5 nights with 14 week old twins. We had a noon flight. Had dinner at yachtsman at 5 and hit magic kingdom till a little after midnight. Day 2 we skipped nap. Day 3 and 4 we went back to room for a few hours. We are pretty commando and stayed out late every night. Day 5 we did not nap. Day 6 we hit magic kingdom early and stayed till we had to catch ME. We had a 6pm flight. The babies did great. They pretty much slept for 2 days straight after we got home. lol.
We are heading back in December. The twins will be 10 months and we will have a 5 year old boy and an 11 month old girl with us. We are doing 6 nights so 7 days. We always go to the parks on arrival and departure days and that trip wont be any different. We plan on flying at noon and hitting the christmas party that night and then doing MK before we leave on day 7.

My daughter doesn't remember a single trip that young. Go 1 less day and have your wife be comfortable. As your child grows up, it doesn't sound like this is a once in a lifetime family vacation and you'll be able to have some memories your child will remember and share with their children and grandchildren later in life.

We took our 20 month old twins last year for 9 nights, and it was too long. Ours were never able to adapt to Disney in general, regardless of how hard we tried to cater everything we did towards their needs. Our rationale for staying 9 nights was so that we wouldn't feel rushed and so it would be worth the effort of packing and taking the trip. However...it kind of backfired on us.

We are going again this year at 31 months and plan to spend 7 nights in Orlando with 2 nights in south Georgia for a high school class reunion. Because we have family visiting who don't wish to go to any parks, and because 8 park days last year turned out to be way too much, we only bought 4 day tickets with water park passes. While I'm sad that our park time will be limited, I sincerely believe it will be what's best for our children.

Every family and child is different, but for us...7 days was a great number. By day 8, we were all just over it!

For my little one, longer is better! We stayed 10 nights when he was 9 weeks old, 9 nights when he was 15 months old, 5 nights when he was 21 months old, and we have a 4 night trip planned around his 2nd birthday. In October, we will go back for 8/9 nights (Luke will be 27 months. For me, the shorter trips are too short. We do them anyway, because a little Disney is better than no Dosney! But even flying, it still feels rushed. We like to take it slower with a little one. We like to take breaks or leave early. We like to have sit down meals to rest and get out of the heat. We like to have at least a couple days per park so that we can FP different rides and hit everything without long waits. You can never see it all, but a long trip (8-10 nights), allows us to see most everything we want without a lot of rushing. And to me, that's the ideal scenario with a little one - enjoy attractions and dining with minimal waiting and minimal stress/rushing. Our fall 2015 trip is already booked, but I would really like to do 12 nights for our 2016 trip!
