DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Oh - on the up-side - being out there allowed my neighbor the chance to introduce herself. She wants to know when I'll be removing all my trees so there wont be any leaves getting into her yard. :sad2:
Sounds like me. My neighbor has a silver maple 6 foot off the property line that needs to come down. The leaves aren't a problem as the rot in no time but those trees are very weak and only good for about 25 years and hers has reached that point. A good storm and it will be on her house or mine. I had my 4th one in 14 years down today, a 40+ foot sycamore. Only have 3 sugar maple left but they can stay. People just need to plant the right things in the right location.

Just talked to the traveling Pirate Princess. She is out of the base camp and on her way home. She is going out tonight with some friends for a couple of beers. Her words were, "Don't worry dad we have with us a couple of big guys that are locals and will take care of me." She had a great time and is sad to leave but happy to be coming back.

Hope she and her luggage have an uneventful trip home.

Thanks Darcy, so do I. A Happy Canada Day to you and our other brethren in the north.

Thanks CJ.

Go ahead and have a beer or two today to toast Canada Day. I plan to do that for July 4th to honour you guys.

Top O the Morning Dads and a very Happy Canada Day to our friends up north.

Don't ya just love the whole new topics of discussion with the kids now. I prefer when the asked about going next door for a sleep over, going to soccer practice or even the days of "can I have a cookie before I go to sleep?" Good to hear all is going well and that she had such a great experience - well done Dad :thumbsup2

'Morning all...
Hope all are well.

Happy Canada Day to our northern most members; enjoy the day guys.

I just happened to be visiting Victoria, BC once on a July 1st. They put on a rather nice party.
We had to catch the ferry back to Port Angeles before the evening activities got under way, but the fair they had put together surrounding the harbor was quite nice.

Most of our trees are what was there before the land was cleared and any houses built. As it happens, there was a tree service company in the area working for the local power company. As there were going to be on my property I asked to speak to the owner about some of my neighbors concerns. He assured me that the trees on my property were all quite healthy and that he would rather not even have the business of removing a good tree. That combined with the price tag for the work convinced me that for the time being, she'll just have to be unhappy with me.

But who's protecting her from the "big guys that are locals"?
You just can't lock them up for their own safety though.
Glad the trip was success and may the flights home be uneventful.

I prefer going next door for an all girls sleep over
Do we need to have an intervention here?

:lmao:
Naaaaa...
just an illustration of the importance of punctuation.

Thanks CJ.

Will do. Hope you are celebrating, but I think I already know the answer to that question.

Talked to the neighbor next-door who has two daughters that grew up with the kid. His take was, I don't know if I could let them do that. My response, sure you could if enough alcohol was consumed while they were away.

One of the things she talked about yesterday was how this adventure boosted her confidence (not that she needed it.). She said she thinks she could do about anything. She also told me she thinks there are a few good pictures, so after she gets back, I will post a few here.

No worries. Over the past month they kind of adopted her as their American sister. Got an text 12:30 am their time saying she made it safely back to the hotel. She flies to Jackarta this afternoon, Indonesia time.

Re-groceried the house, and have a case of Landshark beer icing down for the weekend. I'm off until Monday.

Get off my lawn.

Nothing to worry about there.

It's spelled hounour yuou guuyus.

Can they all be 21 years old and super hot girls?

Will do. Hope you are celebrating, but I think I already know the answer to that question.

.

There may have been some pictures from my younger days if cell phones were as prevalent then.

I can try though. At least until she can exercise her 2nd amendment rights.

Bravo.

Morning all. I have a four day weekend. I'm still drinking my coffee, but thought about having a beer. It looks like quite a bit of rain this weekend for us.

WOW! Own goal with seconds left in regulation. You have to feel awful for her.

Yea, that sucks - horrible way to loose any game but especially a semi of the WC.

I was at oldest's swim meet so didn't get to see the game. I did see replays. Yes, that is a terrible ending. Looks like USA gets its rematch.

England outplayed Japan and had many more chances, but soccer can be a cruel game. Looking forward to the rematch. Still feel bad for her.

The kid arrived at her hotel in Jakarta a little bit ago. Dinner and an early night as she has to be on the airport shuttle at 5:00 am. Next leg is about 30 hours first to Tokyo, then LA and finally Miami.

And Norm, go ahead and have a beer, it is dinner time in Jakarta.

'Morning all...
Just half a day today. Lookin' forward to not being at work for a bit.

Revised - geez

Sorry, 'bout that chief.
We just couldn't resist.

And when will that be?

You sure just one case is gonn'a make it all the way to Monday?

Yep... that was unfortunate.
If there's a bright side to it though, it's that she's not from Columbia...
else there'd be a hit squad coming after her.

Randall Update: Full Discloser. (Posting both in the DIS and Facebook, because some of you guys don’t go to the other place.)

The knee is doing very well. The incision is fully closed and healing fine. I am going to physical therapy three times a week and am walking unassisted. If I do say so myself, I walk pretty darn well now that both of my legs are about the same length. One of cooler things I do in PT is walk in an Alter G. This is an anti-gravity treadmill, when I get zipped into it; it fills with air and lifts me up until I am at 100% weightless. I then adjust to a % of my weight and walk.

Speaking of weight, the Doctor told me that with the previous damage to my leg, there was not much material left to work with. If I wanted this new knee to last a long time, I needed to lose weight. I took this to heart and joined Weight Watchers three weeks ago and as of last Saturday I have lost over 15 pounds since my pre-surgery weigh in, 12 pounds officially in WW.

As you may remember, I was let go at the end of March from my job. Took a quick trip to Disney and then came home to do four surgeries in two months. The knee was the last of them. I wasn’t really looking too hard for a job, but I needed one to keep up my Disney fixes. Well, the day before my knee surgery I got a call from one of my vendors from my last job looking to see if I needed a job. I told them yes but knee surgery. They asked that I call them back when I got out of the hospital. I called them and we set up an appointment for them to come to the house to interview me. Some of you know what happens here. I posted over in the Pub about the appointment and was given the advice to wear pants. If I remember correctly the time to meet was 2pm, well a little before 1pm I get a text asking if they could come now as they were in the area already. I text back, “Sure come on over, just give me a few minutes to put on pants” thanks guys. The interview went well and I felt I was doing ok. Then came those two dreaded questions. First was “What is your strength?” I told them what I felt it was. Then the interviewer looked up from his writing and say, “You know the next one, What are your weaknesses?” And without missing a beat, I said “Kryptonite and Lois Lane!”
Yesterday I got the offer letter, less vacation from my last job, but more money! I start July 13th.

Until next time this is your Disney friend Randall signing off…

Randall - just saw this full update.
Very good news and props on all the witty remarks. “Sure come on over, just give me a few minutes to put on pants” may have been the best one!
regarding vacation...how much less and do you have the option to purchase more?
And for posterity sake, what is it you'd say that you do here?
