So is this $4 Billion number I keep seeing for DHS becoming the widely accepted number for the expansion? I only ask because some Googling revealed the budget for ALL of Shanghai Disney is about $5.5 Billion. $4B for DHS sounds like an ungodly amount of money. Hopefully that includes all the bells and whistles.
No the budget will be under 4 billion. I don't know any official numbers but I'd say 3 billion is more likely for everything.

I think that includes work at MK and EP as well. Also, don't forget the cost of labor in the US versus China and the fact that we'll probably be importing much of the materials whereas China has to import little outside of oil. I'm still in the wait and see mentality.
Yes this massive budget also includes minor things at both Epcot and MK.

DCA's overhaul was estimated to cost about 1.5 billion, which I assume includes Carsland, Buena Vista street, World of Color, Little Mermaid attraction and perhaps even the new Grizzly Peak Airfield, though that probably had an independent budget. Even if they spend 2 billion re-building DHS, which is pretty reasonable to cover Star Wars and Pixar, there's still over 1 billion to allocate somewhere else. My bet is 50th anniversary preparations and maybe a new ride at Epcot.

Good to hear the $3Billion number thrown around, means they might actually spend a billion and a half after they get done with the requisite budget reductions.

1.2 billion world of color was also not part of that budget surprisingly. Grizzly peak was part of the budget but as we have seen was held off.

I would agree with 50th prep but I don't know about a ride in Epcot just yet.

I don't believe ANY of the numbers, sorry. I want to see the actual project planned work. Doesn't matter if it cost $1 billion or $3 billion. As long as there they do some serious expansion in the park, I'm all for it.

Spirit said once the budget is allocated its a done deal. So if they say $3billion, they'll spend $3billion. The problem that comes in is when "phase A" goes over budget, they reduce or eliminate the plans for "phase B".

reddog - there's no such thing as a "done deal". They can mark the budget at $3 billion, and then 6 months later decide to cut it in half. Admitted once they have the whole park ripped apart, it will have to be changed based on forward progress, but it doesn't mean anything.

It's not that I say it's going to happen. As you say the more likely scenario is they overrun the budget, and have to cut items. (This is what happened with Beastly Kingdom at DAK.)

Seems like there are more walls at AK then there was even last fall which is hard to believe
Well the walls around the tree are down but the outfitters shop is being greatly expanded. We still have rivers of light construction and they are building a new quick service food location where the EE FP station was.

Nepalese food or Chinese food? Perhaps Indian?
