Please help me drop one of our signature restaurants

Thanks for all the replies!!! I have decided to drop CG and go to Raglan Road instead. The only other one I may change is Boathouse for Artist Point or Hollywood Brown Derby. . I have always wanted to try Artist Point and we never made it there. Hollywood Brown Derby may be a good option when we go to Osborne
Lights. Too many restaurants and not enough days. Lol
Thanks again everyone!!! I really appreciate all the help! :flower1:

All I can do is RANK these, based on our personal opinion..... Best to worst.

California Grill
Narcoosees
Flying Fish (if you like FISH, as opposed to SHELLFISH)
Bluezoo
Jiko
Boathouse.

I've listed Boathouse LAST, because I still fail to see it's identity. There are better Signature STEAK HOUSES, and better FISH/SHELLFISH restaurants.
None of these has a fleet of amphibious cars :).

You are going to love Raglan Road. I absolutely enjoyed our dinner several days ago at Raglan Road and have now put it on my must do list. The service was excellent, the entertainment was a lot of fun and the food was very good. I also cannot recommend Artist Point enough for you. While the restaurant may not be overly themed, it is a very nice and quiet atmosphere, the service is very good, and the food is among the best in Disney. It is a true hidden gem that many don't even know about or let it pass under the radar.

While I would differ with you about the California Grill and rate it among the bottom of my signature restaurants, I agree with you 100% on the Boathouse. I'm sure the food is very good, but I"m failing to see it's identity as well. We had a reservation for it and chose to cancel it the night before for another restaurant in DTD.

I've re-fallen in love with the Brown Derby in the last year 2 years, I think it would be a great option during the Holiday season!

How did I miss this? ABSOLUTELY agree.... all personal opinion - but BD remains on our list of REAL Signature Restaurants, and the only REAL one within the boundaries of a park. They had a rough spot about 3 years ago (DDP cost cutting) - saw the error, corrected it (new manager, and a very good one).

True, there's very little to choose from at DHS, glad they were able to turn it around. Haven't been there since the recent menu change. I wish CA Grill would improve, I complained, and they did call me for more feedback! Let's hope!

Jiko is one of our favorites! The menu offers something different from your normal seafood or steak that you would find at a lot of other restaurants. The service was fantastic and the restaurant is really pretty too.

I just cancelled Boathouse and replaced it with Artist Point. All your replies have really helped me!!! So now my 5 signature restaurants are - Flying Fish, Bluezoo, jiko, Narcoossee, and Artist Point.
My other dinners are Raglan Road, Boma, Via Napoli, and Plaza for MVMCP. I'm not really excited about the Plaza but not sure where to eat for the night of the party.
Thanks again for all your help!!!

Our last several meals at CG have been underwhelming and the atmosphere has seemed to deteriorate. I would skip it.

You are going to love Artist Point. We have never had a bad meal there and just had a fantastic evening dining there a couple of weeks ago. As for your your lineup of restaurant; They are all excellent (ok, perhaps not the Plaza) and I'm sure you will not be disappointed. :thumbsup2

I agree. We have been there three times since the remodel and not only does the atmosphere seem to be lacking, but the food is rather average and the service IMHO is the worst of any signature in Disney. For me it was three strikes and your out. Until I hear this place has made a complete turn around I will not be back. :(

Ever since CG rehab, the reports are disappointing.

You can add me as another being disappointed. I have wanted to really like this place. The first time we were there a few weeks after the rehab it was pretty dismal; I chalked it up to just grand opening jitters. The second time it was a bit better, but still was about a 5 on a 1-10 scale. Then last week it was once again miserable for us. And I don't know if it is just me or what, but the dessert menu I just don't get; Fritters, Sunday Sampler, a chocolate cake with Nutella (yep, I would guess right out of a jar), and this past week they had a fried donut with strawberry toping??? I have better things to do with my $150 or so than spend it at the CG.

Just chiming in to say I'm so jealous! I miss the adults only days of deluxe dining plan and as many signatures as we could manage! Have a great time!

I totally understand, my son turned 18 and now enjoys the signatures as much as I do. Times change, now doing more adult only trips, as all of our kids are heading to college! The circle of life! :-) Bittersweet!

It truly is bittersweet! We are taking our 4 year old for the fourth time this October, and I've booked 3 signature dining places. It'll be our last trip as a family of 3, and she's great in restaurants now. Then we'll start over with avoiding them until baby 2 gets its act together! ;)

From my understanding, the meals at Boathouse are very expensive and there aren't any sides included. If you order the filet, it's just a filet. No potato or veg. I like visually appealing plates when I eat at upscale places. I just can't see myself getting really excited about having to purchase $15 side of asparagus with a $60 steak. That's just me tho!

That is pretty much how any high end steakhouse is and how many high end (or down home) seafood spots are. The sides are designed to be shared.

Curious what you think are better steak and seafood restaurants. I haven't done Boathouse yet, but I've been to Gibson's in Chicago and love it.

All just our opinion - and places we frequent :)....

Steak - Shula's (Dolphin) & Yachtsman's (Yacht Club). People fight all the time over which is better :). BOTH are clearly STEAK Houses :).
FISH - with scales.... Flying Fish.
FISH - with an exoskeleton (SHELL Fish) ... Fulton's still wins :).

I would drop flying fish. The food is good enough but we did not have a signature dining experience there. we've been to the others (except boathouse) multiple times and have very much enjoyed them.

LOVE Jiko and CG

I've never been a fan of the "steakhouse" a la carte menu. Personally, I resent having to order a head of broccoli or a vat of mashed potatoes for $12 in hopes someone will share it with me. I prefer a well orchestrated plate with a protein and the sides to compliment it. But to each his own! With that said, most signature rest. shine and others like CA Grill struggle in this endeavor!

The only restaurant I'm not crazy about is the Plaza but not sure where to eat for MVMCP. We already have lunch reservations at BOG. Since we are staying at the Boardwalk I was thinking of a late lunch in Epcot and then taking the monorail to MK. I love hearing all these opinions!!!
Thanks for everyone's help!!!!
